Announcement Becoming the Opinnion Page...

Any thoughts about placing some controls on the announcement page to discourage postings that use that forum as a de-facto opinion page? I was reviewing some of the first archived postings and it seems back then, most responses were short and general or would state they would leave an opinion or QC for the video.

Some responses in that forum of late have become epic and should rightfully be in a video’s formal opinion form. Instead there seems to be a trend to write-up an opinion on the announcement page with the belief that open criticism is beneficial to both the editor and AMV community. If the announcement page is evolving into the new opinion page then maybe adding a link to a video’s official opinion page would encourage people to fill-out the form that was specifically designed for that purpose.

So like... using the VidID tag, there could be a button
that would say "Leave an Opinion" or something?

I guess it would encourage people to leave more one-on-one feedback, since the phenomenon known as 'opinion-giving' would be more visible. Might be interesting.

i think the purpose of posting your opinion in the announcements is so that people can see what other people think of the video. I know in several cases it has gotten me to download some videos and completely ignore others depending on who is leaving opinions and what opinions they are leaving.

Because what this site really really needs is more one or two line total bullshit responses to videos. Those people who take shit seriously enough to write more than a couple words are just destroying the forums. God knows I find the 'you suck' responses so much more helpful than someone who goes through and gives details on what they liked.

In order to encourage the totally mindless crap that apparently is the entire goal of the announcement forum I suggest we make it even easier to post pure drivel. Cause typing :up: requires four whole characters and that's just way too much. We should make it so that the letter 'u' will automatically map to :up:. To make thing even more :up:sable we sho:up:ld also map the letter 't' to 'THREAD VIRGINITY!'

Well, that's the point and question. If the announcement page is going to serve a dual purpose then adding a link button to the video's opinion form and encourage people to leave the detailed criticism there would help preserve the reason there is an opinion page. Otherwise, you're right, why bother with the opinion form side of this site.

I'd be a liar if I said I didn't do that too but it can be highly bias. I've seen videos by popular editors getting pages of fawning opinions that IMO were mediocre at best and realize that I downloaded the video purely on popularity.

I'm certainly not condoning elimination of announcement comments; just questioning if it's the right place for lengthy, detailed video critiques and if adding a function to promote using the opinion form is viable.

I much prefer people sucking my clit or shitting on my face in the annoucement forums than in an op... besides what's wrong with a little yuri action happening there?

You know I've seen this arguement before... on one of the amv review threads.
