Ok, so the article said the gas expands to an area roughly the size of a basketball and then freezes your organs. Now hold a basketball up to your torso. The basketball takes a up a pretty good-sized chunk of your mid-riff, right? Think of how many organs are in that area that could be affected. Putting aside a lot of the unpleasant things that might happen as a result of the flash-freeze, a good chunk of your organs suddenly can no longer function because they're fucking frozen. Your guts might not explode, but they wouldn't necessarily have to.
