Yea it's an all-in-one ripper for Windows, Mac, and Linux. A lot of people frown on all-in-ones, though I'm not sure why, I get fantastic results using it to rip my discs.

Whoa, stop right there. Don't use Handbrake. I don't think you'll need to. I believe this is just a simple 'problem' that confuses a lot of people the first time they run across it. In Vdub, go to Options > Preferences, and change the "Output color depth" from "Fastest" to "Use output color depth." I think that's your problem.

You may also check to make sure that your preview panes aren't stretching the video past 100% of it's size, as that will distort it as well. Just right click in the middle of a pane and then click "100%."

If neither of those are the problem, then I'm not sure what it would be.
... yea ...

It's the defined process that the guides suggest though.

LivingFlame is probably right - fix the preview settings.

This thing needs an edit button... >_<
I tried both of those and it didn't work. I rendered just a little part as Lagarith, and it's not just the preview in VDubMod. When I play it in my player also, it has bad quality and everything. ):

It's only that movie though. >_>
I just rendered 5 Centimeters per Second and it looked perfect.

Open the AviSynth script in another program to check whether VirtualDubMod is to blame. Good choices would be: AvsP, Media Player Classic or VirtualDub.

VirtualDubMod doesn't have a recent copy as it is over 9000 years old and has been abandoned by its maintainers for at least 100 years. Check out VirtualDub's changelist to see all the bug fixes and changes that happened between the 1.5 and 1.8 branches if you have an hour or two to spare.
