Magix 12

Post by 8bit_samurai » Mon Jul 28, 2008 3:45 pm

Had a question about it.When I open a vob with Vdub, it was interlaced, but when I opened it with Magiix, it doesn't appear to be interlaced even when I exported it a lossless codec. Does this mean I don't have to deinterlace it with Vdub and some sort script, or should I do that anyways for better quality?

Also, it has an option to export as an mp4. Does this suffice or is it better to get some software that specializes in mp4?

I think Magix MEP12 will deinterlace VOBs by default. At least I think MEP11 does this.

If you add a VOB to the timeline, select it and press CTRL+E to bring up the Object properties dialog. There should be an Interlace/De-interlace tab which should have a few options (that I'm not sure what do :P ). At least with my version, De-interlace options has Automatic interlace-processing selected.

As for MP4, it would depend on which codec (or coder) it uses and what options it allows. I think that if you wanted to produce MP4s for iPod® and PSP®, it should be fine. For something more akin to what you may find on internet websites (like this one), it may not be as good as the method detailed here.

Awesome, thanks. I'll be sure to check these out and mess around with them. Hopefully I'll have something figured out by the time I finish editing an AMV or something...
