My actual start would have been when I was dabbling in animated work since the late 80s / early 90s with the earliest stuff (EA's DeluxePaint & Cartooners, Broderbund's FantaVision Animation Paint Program). Nothing very big, but I had always loved editing; So, when I came across anime music videos on FilePlanet around 2003 (and later those hosted on the Org), I became immediately hooked on the idea of editing my own.

First AMV I saw or first AMV I saw that I knew was an AMV? Two different things and I don't remember when I found out what an AMV was. ^_^

The first AMV I watched (even though I didn't know what it was) would have been in late 1999, since it was a Final Fantasy VIII video and I saw it before I bought the PC version of the game, which was in early 2000. That was probably the only one I saw for quite some time, because I don't recall stumbling across any others until I found a-m-v.org.

lets see i believe it was when i was ummm 10 bout and i saw a dbz amv that had several linkin park songs (at the time i was a fan) and sevral amvs that had akira the amvs werent done uber great but i liked it also im sure the sites long gone anyway and have been hooked since im now 19 goin on 20 in nov so i saw my first amv 10 years go bout so its been a while

Good question, reading this made me remember....

I'm pretty sure this was the first AMV I saw in my life. My brother bought a Dokan Magazin (I'm even not sure if nowtimes that exists) with a cd about evangelion. The second one was in the same cd, it was a parody trailer of Star Wars Episode I.

2005, I was just getting into anime and had no clue about AMVs. I was talking to Immorrel on IM. He said he wanted to show me something he had done. He gave me a link to some site, animemusicvideos.org.

And the fucking site made me join before I could watch it. But he seemed really excited about it, so I did. And then I watched the vid. And being the masochistic freak that I am, decided I had to do that too. And here I am and its all Immorrel's fault!
