Anime Evolution - VERY IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - UPDATE

HI All,

With only six weeks to go to Anime Evolution, I am extremely sad to let you all know that the event will NOT happen on the August 22-24 weekend due to Site conflicts. As some of you might not know, Anime Evolution happens on The Simon Fraser University and as such there seems to be a conflict that makes it impossible for the even to be held there. As of right now, the Convention is not cancelled but postponed as they are in negotiations to get a new site. However, this will push the event back to sometime in September or October.

I am truly devastated by the new myself and the effect it might have on the AMV Contest and the AMV room. I have worked very hard on making both the contest and AMV room the best if could be for the past five years.

Right now I’ve put the contest on hold, and in the next week or so if there are any new dates they will be announced. So until then if I could ask all of you who have entered to bear with me. Once the new date is announced and I have confirmation of everything, I will provide several options to you all as which will include:

1) Keep both entries in the contest
2) Withdraw one or both entries
3) Exchange an entry with another video

As everything is up in the air, I am not sure if there I will be re-opening the contest for entries.

Again I apologize for this situation as it is out of my hands. I hope that this will not lesson what you think of the contest and I hope to move forward as soon as dates are announced. As for the AMV room, I have been assured that seeing how popular it is, they will have room for it at the other venue.

I can't imagine how frustrating that is for everyone coordinating Anime Evolution, as well as those who've made plans to attend.

Trust me, I was totaly devistated... I spend 30+ hours on preping the entires and making all the judging discs... I was 1 hour away from mailing them when I found out..

Well, at least a postpone notice is better than a cancellation notice. I hope everyone involved will be able to get things back on track for the fall. Is there cause for concern on the overall turnout, since it looks like the event will be held during the school year?

Man, sorry to hear that, Vlad. I know events like these have so much work that gets put into them. It can be really difficult to just up and have to reschedule everything like this.

When I heard about this, my first thought was for all those poor people who put countless hours into making the con run smoothly, including myself. I was so concerned that I wouldn't be able to attend this year!! Vlad, I know that you put ALOT of effort into the AMV room every year. Most of your equipment is so cool, and the AMV contest is DEFINATELY one of the highest points in the Anime Evolution experience. I hope that everything gets sorted out soon, and that you'll still be able to wow all of us lucky Attendee's, Staff, and Guests with your greatness.

The fact that you made this thread and provided those options says volumes about how good an organiser you are

I cant remember if I entered (thought I did but you seem to pop up on so many cons :p so I hope they pay you for all that time and effort) but I'd probably swap an entry if I finish any of my new vids by then.
