Kind of reminds me of the Act, but talk it over.

Link for the lazy people.

And that's pretty much how I feel. Dunno how much a boycott of anything would do unless it was on a very large scale, mind you, but I definitely support the individual's right to privacy.

Not really sure what happened to that link, but this is what I was going for. A link that people won't have to manually fix.

Well I mean, if Viacom is actually going to do this, there would be a very large scale boycott.

Wow, if Viacom does infact pursue legal action against those who watched a video on youtube with copyrighted material I will be very upset.

Well that's the thing, they would have to arrest nearly everyone who has ever watched any ONE BIT of cartoon, anime, a part of a movie/show. Not only is it unbelievable, it's just unrealistic in my opinion. But, knowing all these companies, they could find a way to make it legal.

Viacom issued a statement Thursday saying it is only out to bolster its case against Google and not to expose or pursue viewers of copyrighted videos.
the youtube video is poorly documented, presents biased interpretations of the story, and makes several logical errors in its arguments. i do still disagree with the ruling though. i wouldn't support boycotting viacom though, but would support writing to congress (if i weren't lazy).

Associated Press wrote:Dismissing privacy concerns, a federal judge overseeing a $1 billion copyright-infringement lawsuit against YouTube has ordered the popular online video-sharing service to disclose who watches which video clips and when.
That's insane.
Associated Press wrote:The database includes information on when each video gets played, which can be used to determine how often a clip is viewed. Attached to each entry is each viewer's unique login ID and the Internet Protocol, or IP, address for that viewer's computer.
That's the part that we're all worried about. They could track us down after watching ONE copyrighted video, at the least. Even if that video was an accidental click, there is no way to prove that you didn't click it on purpose.

This could get serious.

The whole scare about Viacom going after people watching copyrighted material on youtube is kinda silly...

however i wish instead of a lawsuit they would see how this damages them and they should come to an agreement with youtube as UMG and several other companies has...
