We'll see what I'll get out of this...
EDIT: Nice Watch, but I wont keep it.
Honestly, i'm not a fan of videos that cut and sync to every sound in a video. It's too mechanical as Janzki put it. So i don't edit that way. It actually really hard for me to do that. Like i'm hardwired to stay away from it or something. Ashes Divide is awsm. I really want to edit to The Stone and The Prey but my ideas are shot at the moment.Scott Green wrote:Holy Shit ASHES dIVIDE O:

EDIT: I like it
I'm the type of person who likes beat sync and i wished for somemore here...
Anyway the video catched the mood of the song quite good most of the time (few exceptions like in the beginning when they were shooting around with the guns, that didnt fit at all imo). I would have definetly enjoied it more when i'd have seen this appleseed movie (gonna keep an eye out for it since i like the other movie).
I kinda was expecting a "moody" video when i saw your name and ASHES dIVIDE, btw thanks for using it! 4/5 feels right for this video. And yes I would like to have a HD version please! I'm going back to enjoy the video again now... 200gb huffy ftw xD
I think the song doesn't work well as an action video... unfortunately i figured that out too late into the video. The source doesn't lend too well to only drama either so in the process of editing it was difficult to find the scenes i needed. I could've done better for that beginning. I just didn't careEmong wrote: EDIT: Kinda agree with Scott. It was more about mood sync than anything else. I was hoping for more beat sync and perhaps a little more action - or better placed action anyway; some of the action scenes felt pretty weird because of the song, especially in the beginning - Not really sure what to think about the mood sync though. Perhaps I've been listening to this song too much to enjoy this combo. It felt distractingly disconnected at times.. The cut to black in the end was awesome!
3/5
The black and white wasn't in the movie. Before i cut the song there was more of it.DayWalker B. wrote:That was a pretty sweet video.
I personally liked your editing and sync in general, as it felt just right for the song and the concept you were aiming for. Good use of black/white effect (assuming it was not in the movie already, I haven't seen it yet), smooth transitions and such...
Overall, it's a solid and well-executed AMV, but not really something I would watch more than twice.

THIS TIME.
eh? EH?!
I knew you'd get a rise out of that title, hehe.Nessephanie wrote:I like it! Personally with this song, I loved how you went for the mood instead of just random beat sync like alot of people would have gone for, I thought that your editing was perfect for the mood of the song and anime. *upup*
I also like the song edit, I think it works just fine, and the length is good. :3
(and you're a meanie with that thread title! Although I'm not disappointed.)

THE TWO TOWERS... wait we're not talking about lord of the rings are we?Castor Troy wrote:RETURN OF THE KING.
No, it's not impossible. In fact it wasn't that bad from my initial tests. It wasn't accurate after seeking back and forth though. Which is why, as mentioned in the video discription, i ended up encoding the footage to huffyuv and using the dvd as my editing source. Then it was as simple as renaming the dvd source and swapping in the HD when i wanted to render. In premiere its easy. I don't know about other programs.xstylus wrote:
Well, it'll be almost certainly impossible to do any sort of real-time editing like we currently do with SD footage.
The recommendation I'd make would be to down-convert it to 720x480 DV that matches with the HD footage frame for frame, edit with it, then create what is known as an "edit decision list".
Then you go to your HD footage armed with your EDL, turn off previewing, and you edit it blind by time code matching frame for frame with the DV edit. Cross your fingers, render to your HD codec of choice, then check the result.
Yea, i used the HD-DVD source (VC-1). My best results were using ffmpegsource. Directshow source didn't work because it would give me a bogus framerate. It was accurate so long as you don't seek backwards... which basically means it's impossible to edit with. Speed wise, it wasn't bad.Janzki wrote: I was able to use DGAVCDec on my Blu-ray source, but I still decided to convert it to Lagarith for editing (only 75GB, wink wink). HD-DVD with its VC-1 codec is trickier for frame-accurateness, FFMpegsource probably doesn't accept it...
As expected, the video itself was very well edited. I'll take mood over mechanical beat sync any day.
How the hell do you know about that video?! who is giving out my betas damnit >.<JaddziaDax wrote:/me goes and posts in epic waffle thread

You know I love this vid. We had a few discussions about it and my feedback was always positive
Love how you capture the mood of the song. I couldn't see anyone else editing this song in the same way. Unique imo.
Yea, just hit me up with a PM or on AIM if you need help.bluetrain wrote:Damn, i was going to try and do this myself, but i really didn't even know where to start. I bought a HD-dvd player awhile ago and as far as i've seen thats the only anime source. Maybe i'll ask you for some pointers when i get my dvd delivered.
Its pretty hard to get HD-dvds over here now.
I wouldn't mind seeing the 1080p version either just to see how good it is.
the video isn't too bad for just a technical experiment. Mood sync always has a very attractive appeal to me in an AMV and you pulled it off well. Though i think i disagree, i prefered the earlier stages of the video more than the end. But one of the better experiments i've ever seen.
The animation is beautiful. So much better then the first one. You should see it in HD, so much better, hehe.guy07 wrote:I had waffles for breakfast and now i'm watching a waffle amv ...weird.![]()
Video was decent. I never relized how much better the animation is in the new Appleseed movie ....I should pick it up some time. Song was good. I think the video was a little to slow paced editing wise in the intro, a tighter sync might of made it better ....or worse, lol Guess it's fine that way, never mind. And it looked a bit grainy when I full screened it ...not as good as This Time, but not bad either. 3.5/5
You didn't like the movie? i think everyone i've talked to liked it. It wasn't amazing but it wasn't shitty IMO. a lot better then the first one. Thanks for watching.Kevmaster wrote:hmh..shitty Anime, great Music

Thanks. Instead of using the DVD source for the 480p version, I resize the 1080p one down.Fizziks wrote:Good work! You captured the mood of the song really well, and I must say the video quality was phenomenal.
