AMV to Watch Anime

Post by hasteroth » Mon Jun 23, 2008 1:52 pm

Have you ever watched an AMV and saw an anime in that AMV that looks interesting so you decide to watch it? I have alot. I started almost every anime featured in OFS 2.0 - Chiikaboom I started Haruhi Suzumiya and Lucky Star after seeing them in Atack of the Otaku. I watched 5cm per second after seeing Cherished Memories and I watched Azumanga Daioh after seeing Still Preoccupied with 1985.

I've replied to these threads with the same thing every time and this will be no exception.

Walter Scott's Kinocycle video at Otakon made me buy the Kino's Journey boxset the next day at the con and ultimately watch the show. I enjoyed the show and Walter's video played no small part in getting me interested in the first place.

There were various comedy AMVs (such as AMV Hell...yea, shut up...) that featured Azumanga Daioh pretty frequently. Couple that with Still Preoccupied with 1985, and I had to pick the show up. Never regretted it once.

There have been other instances of such things as well, but that's the first one that comes to mind.
... yea ...

The AMV Hells and various other MEPs turned me onto a lot of series.

I tried using the search function, but was unable to find the 4 other exact-same threads I recall seeing in the last year and a half. :(

Hold Me now expedited me watching and buying Princess Tutu, I knew about the series before hand and had seen about 2 episodes on anime network (when I actually HAD cable)... and thought it was cute but thats about it. When I finally got around to seeing the whole series I liked it a lot.

All the various amvs featuring Azumanga Daioh made me want to watch that and I DID regret buying it, cause I find the show boring as hell with a tidbit here and there that was actually worth something... However it makes good amv footage and my husband likes it... so we haven't sold it back to suncoast yet. Also learning of its origin (a four panel comic) makes the show and its flow make more sense.

Euphoria and a couple others got me into Rahxephon - it is good stuff.

Some random Gravitation video got me to watching that, I don't remember which it was. Same with Host Club... both were probably poor quality with subtitles.

Some youtube video got me into watching Shugo Chara... it wasn't a good video at all but the source looked interesting :3

and so on and so on and so on..... I could go through all the names of the videos I've seen, but the truth is lots of amvs have inspired me to watch certain shows.
