How about we take a leaf out of blabber's book.
AMV Review V 2.0
Each reviewer watches the video and types a review of the video. Review can be in any style the reviewer desires.
Then the coordinator makes a quote from the review with a link to the .txt file for full reading.
Thus, we have a long list of quotes from reviewers, which give a basic fundamental ideal of what the video is like, and fans can choose which review they wish to read.
Then again, this might not be totally functional, as I don't think many people would want to type out a long review.

Kio: Most burlies (including myself) would be availble 9am -12 noon GMT which is 7pm -11pm for me and 5pm-9pm for the Western Australian's (daylight savings not counted btw) as for the other states I think some are 30 minutes behind me not 2 hours like the WAliens.
That is not to say that they are or aren't participating (or that I'm speaking on behalf of the whole damn country) merely that most if not all of us work or attend school during the 9am-5pm regular day.
I'm sure some of them(other aussies) will correct me if i misspoke here
As for day of the week generally monday night, sunday night and wedensday are not so good for me.
As for suggestions:
Maybe you could do the reviews in categories, pick and 'old' and a 'new' video so one week do drama next action etc.
Conversely perhaps you could choose underrated and popular videos in the same genre. I dont mean a good vs bad video there are many videos not advertised as the makers don't speak english or announce them so they are not so well known. There are allot of little gems on this site that should have more lovin' than they do.
Another idea would be to pick 2 videos of the same genre and have a point to make such as "when telling a story 'conflict' is good but we dont mean litteral conflict" ~ quote stolen from Godix while beta testing one of my videos (without his permission of course)
Those are what I think of about format and structure changes for amv-review I think conforming too much to a structure with responses would take away the fun and some freedom of expression /me is sock puppetted by Toddles

Hey, no fair not correcting my spelling when quoting me! Damnit, don't you know you should change the quote to make me sound smart instead of just repeating what I actually said?Autraya wrote:Another idea would be to pick 2 videos of the same genre and have a point to make such as "when telling a story 'conflict' is good but we dont mean litteral conflict" ~ quote stolen from Godix while beta testing one of my videos (without his permission of course)

Go ahead and rip my videos apart. I'm new, have lots to learn.
Of course I don't think I'm like most people when I watch a vid. I see the "Popular" video and think to myself WTF was that, or why did they put that there.
A good review has to be constructive while tearing it apart.
I'd be interested in helping review. I think it's a fun idea.
as far as availability times... well right now anytime is perfect. (Hopefully that will change soon)

The problem is tact. Or lack thereof.
tact
1 : sensitive mental or aesthetic perception (converted the novel into a play with remarkable skill and tact)
2 : a keen sense of what to do or say in order to maintain good relations with others or avoid offense
Tact is one of the things we get drilled into our heads in the military. Yes, say your opinion, yes say what you feel, but if you say it in a rude or unnecessarily abrupt manner, you're just going to have your listener angry with you rather than thinking about how true your words are. I have personally never read an AMV-Review that I could criticize as being incorrect. The reviews are accurate and are a good view of the faults of the videos in question. But are they tactful? Hell no.
Especially when it comes to the overly sensitive world of editors, and a lot of us seem to be the sensitive artist types who are always going to have trouble accepting criticism of their 'visions', one has to be very careful in phrasing and word choice, language and structure, building up and tearing down. This is why I stopped writing reviews for people because I'm very conscious of the need to be both supportive of the hobby and sharply critical of flaws.
Gotta go back to work, I might talk more on this subject if this post keeps going. :/

As I've hinted at before, if the opinion of those running this is along the lines of "we're not targeting anyone" then why not simply choose the videos in a different manner. A random number generator that grabs several vidID values would work fine.
If you worry about not having all that much to talk about, run it so that you get something like 5 videos, and allot 20 minutes to talk about each one. Each reviewer could pick one or more to actually op. Scale it to your liking if this doesn't exactly fit.
