Yeah I think we all agree that FX lovers are in big masses.

And what anurok said is veeeeery true, now if you're a noob few people watch and comment your vids.. you get the kind of cycle that Yoko stated a few pages ago.

But what I think happens is that most people try to make amvs and at first they don't know how to do much, so they might put a few fx in it to make it look good. And people are tired of that so they either don't watch noob videos or they watch it but tell them it's crap and that isnt very welcoming to make more videos really.

I notice the tones (I think that's the correct term) in these discussions not only applies to this hobby (it's just a hobby, right?) and situation, but to others as well. You find this awesome unknown club (like I know about clubs :?) but everyone finds about it and then it's boring. You go to a new school and nobody likes you until you either do something awesome or you hang around long enough and they just accept you (or not). You open an old fashioned pizza restaurant that makes awesome pizza that every loves, then a pizza hut opens across the street. You submit a simple yet awesome drawing to a game magazine yet the complex but mediocre ones, with the exception of the winner (of not being mediocre), are shown in the magazine.

Like what Frank Sinatra sang, "Riding High in April, shot down in May"

But are going to change that tune?

You have a point but it is also a phase of videos that roll through. Skittles, Attack of the Otaku, SugardanSen (although the last 2 were by the same editor) all of the same style and they were released within a similar time frame.

Sure, it may be awesome to have all of these effects and texts now but in 2-3 months what will it be? I remember just watching Mon1oke and loving its excellent cuts and timings. No effects really needed.

Will we see another phase sometime soon?

I for one hope so. Change adds variety and when you have variety you have so much more to work off of. Those of us who have not just made 1 video after getting excited about watching the Byakuya vs Ichigo battle and made a Bleach amv are constantly bettering ourselves at our hobby. That is where creativity comes into mind and where execution needs to take place.

Actually, the quote was a double entendre. That's Life. And that's what the question was kinda based off of. Well, what I was thinking at the time anyways.

But good point.

Yes and No

Yes: People can make it too complicated. People can raise a fuss over anything and make it too complicated. People can bitch and whine about con videos, VCA results, JCA results, top 10 %, blah de blah de blah. It's no use whining about it all, because its going to happen anyway.

No: Personally, it's not too complicated for me. Sure, I've shelved out quite a bit of money on DVD's, but it all goes into my entertainment budget anyway, and I like the anime. Sure I get tweeked every now and again with stupid comments and other nasty stufs, especially junk in amv-review and stuff I read in Announcements and MEP's. But I take all of that with good grace, because then I remember that this is simply a hobby for me. Sure, it's a bit more than a hobby because I put a lot of time and effort into it, but I also have IRL stufs to do.

problem with effects a lot of the time is that the general effects loving audience can't really distinguish between good and bad use. I think a lot of the time it's just "ooooh pretty" ...people seem to be terribly easy to impress in a lot of cases.

The beginning is always hard. If I remeber right I just got one reply for my first three announcement threads (wich I consider the 3rd one as not bad at all, but that´s personal taste). I´m glad that I didn´t gave up.

Alright... after to the "complicating" stuff:
I do think that this whole community has an anourmus amount of users. There are groups with similar interests and in the end it might be just differences between these groups. In the end... such differences are just natural and impossible to solve, right?
It might be just seam so complicated, because there are so many groups.
