without effects, their amv would stand no chance, since one of the area's judged is effects, they'd lose out big time just trying to be smart like that

and I see your point, there are people dead-set against using movie maker, I dont see the down-sides of it other than how limited it may be, we're trying to make the contest more fair because it would be
way too unfair for people to stand a chance in an amv contest when up against AMVs that have been made with more professional programs such as sony vegas and adobe premiere when only they've used movie maker.
plus a real amv maker would win it anyway I reckon, a chance to show you can win using the simplest program
