It's kind of sad that we had to jump through such hoops back in the day to get anime. I honestly only experienced that on the tail-end of it, since I got into anime in the 90's right when it was rising in popularity. (They actually had Slayers VHS tapes at a local video shop here!) But still, I don't think the level of "hardcoreness" has anything to do with a fan's love for the genre. I am sure a lot of new fans, if introduced to anime sooner (or born sooner), would have been those $800 laserdisc importing fans, and that's not a problem. Thsoe are the fans that pushed anime where it is today. Without them, it'd be all Pokemon and DBZ. I believe that.

The real issue here is the attitude of some folks. There is elitism, yes, but there's also just plain cruelty, and it's definitely not unique to this site, but it's becoming more prevolent here than I'd want. (A lot of it is coming from a little place called 4chan, I think. Let's leave /b/ in /b/, ok?) It's one thing to tell a newbie that he's posting in the wrong forum, or that he's breaking a rule - it's another thing to crucify him. It has nothing to do with the fandom or the crowd here. It's just common sense.

I would agree with that assessment. I think some of it can be chalked up to a worry about the changing of the guard (kind of like when this site was first made perhaps) but that's just personal opinion.

As far as the did it for the anime thing I just think that was the major number of people making AMVs back then because they only way you had the gear and the footage was if you were really a hardcore anime fan back then. Those exist now but there is a much wider spectrum of people making vids. Some of them don't even watch much anime I hear!!

Personally I blame world of warcraft =p

Well i make videos because it is fun for me, but also i want to entertain people. There is nothing wrong. I think most of the people do it like me. And the way how AMVs must looks goes on and on by us. We say what is now good. For some new editors i see there is only one thing, effects, and there must be many in one video. I think many new people dont enjoy old stuff. All is going on, we cant really stop it, because so many people go other ways. But the one way is give by us. We show all effects over effects. They see them and they like it, because it looks not easy and so. I think the best is that we take more attention to the many thing of AMVs. Make Music videos to Anime, with music and animes we like.
My problem is, i dont know so many animes and artist, so i load many videos. but over the years i saw animes were i say, no more. Also by music.

I think i wrote bullshit XD

If what you meant there was that over the years, you have seen many anime and hear much music where, afterwards, you didn't want to see/hear any more of them, then yes, I agree. There are polenty of AMVs that have made me not want to see anime, and also plenty that have made me not want to hear any more of that music artist. In my opinion, this is fine - it's saving me the trouble :P

I ain't changed at all :/... Still do what i feel like doing.

Perfect example would be the DFMEP. I knew alot of people would hate it cause its just mostly simple cuts, internal sync, and flow without FX set to fast music. It's not the FX amv that today's members wanna see. However I liked its simplicty and the rush it gives.

If others like stuff I create or coordinate along the way then thats more of a bonus then anything else.

Things aren't getting more complicating is just hard to watch a crazy FX amv and then go back to a simple seamlessly executed no fx amv and enjoy it unless its using anime or music your really into.

One last mention... No fx amv's partially suffer because your seeing scenes from animes in amv's that you have probably seen a million times by now just set to different music. Since there is no FX it's just not as interesting cause its all the same. I think godix said something along these lines once, its all the same recycles garbage without FX.
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

Lies. You can't have a KING PWOLF class in any game. It'd be too imba.

...that is unless KING PWOLF demands there be a KING PWOLF class. SO SAYS THE KING (PWOLF)!

Well I think what's happening is what's happening in society in general, technology is evolving and we want more and more from everything

Before you could happily make an AMV that just had good sync and a few nice fx and it was good. Now most people don't like videos unless they have loads of fancy fx in it and really cool stuff.

Also lots of people DON'T PAY ATTENTION TO THE SYNC and that makes me sick, so if you sync a video they might not even notice lol they just pay attention to the fx, the anime and the song. If they like that the videos good for them

But anyways, I don't think it's THAT bad, I mean.. things change and you can't stop it, just use what you like from the new styles and the old ones, do what you like.
