Usefulness?

This is a good a place as any to post this question. I've been curious for a few months now about that little stat on the main profile page called "Usefulness" and the numbers that follow it. What exactly determines someone's usefulness? I know word count in your opinions has something to do with it, but there seems to be more to it than that. Anyone care to explain it?

I assume donating money increases usefulness score.

My usefulness stat went sky high after I left an op of nothing but 'This is why word count is a stupid measure for usefulness' over and over again until the form filled up (yes, there is a limit on how large an opinion can be).

I've also noticed that letting time pass without leaving new opinions reduces your usefulness. So it's about how often you leave them too.
