How long does production usually take for you?

Post by JazzyDJ » Wed May 21, 2008 4:08 am

I've been working on this video for ages now after overcoming several looong (when I say long, you have no idea how long) hiatus' and technicle problems, all while I see others just pumping out videos like there's no tommorrow. And it appears that styles have evolved since I began the ideas (and got interuted) that I had. I'm afraid my video is starting to look dull to me because of this. And I'm beginning to wonder when in time this video will get done. It's my first video so these issues were expected, but not quite to this magnitude.

I just wanted to see how long it usually took others here? And do you usually find yourself scrapping an old idea to put in a new flashier one or do you wiegh production time as more of a factor (especially if you've got lots of other ideas for other videos)? Also how long did your first video take you? (I also enjoy watching them if you feel like presenting a link. :) )

I've spent weeks on a 1 minute clips for a MEP.

I've got two personal AMV's I'm currently working on. The first I've worked on for a week & the other I've worked on again off again for about a month.

It all depends on how much time you have to dedicate to the hobby, and how hard you want to work on it. I've seen good videos pushed out in a day or two.

well. Let's see here, finished my last full length video november 9th 2006.. so, I'm still working on getting one out before 2 years hits.

as for MEPs, it really depends... Sometimes I'll get on a roll and edit a whole piece in a matter of days, and other times i'll stare at my tracks going "man.. I should edit, but I don't want to find, rip, and convert more clips... >_>"

My videos range roughly in the 60-90 hour range depending on complexity and the length of the song. I typically will finish that in about two to three months.
