Maybe i'm just a tad naive, but that seems like someone that is only passively watching videos. At first glance (and by extremely dumbing down your analysis) most simple videos look the same - doesn't mean they are. ::shrug::

Momentum was a pretty good video, yet there was nothing overly spectacular about it. But because we expect such great things from koop it's got a op avg and star avg that's really quite impressive. To be honest if anybody else had made that video i believe that it wouldn't have been as popular. Does that really seem fair to the less well known editors?
No, it really isn't fair, but that's often how expectations work.

At the same time, you also had the opposite reaction from some people. I heard it said (and no, I wasn't the one saying it) "That's nice, but I already saw Waking Hour". The person in question wasn't as keen on Momentum as others were because it didn't seem original enough. So it cuts both ways. Yes, Koop and a few others get more attention and such due to their social status, but some people expect more from them due to the same.

That's not really a good example of what you mean. That comment is specifically about the video and how the video felt like a copy of an already existing work. It has nothing to do with the creator and would apply just as well to some noobs first video (assuming the noobs vid was a copy of Waking Hour of course). People around here take comments entirely too personally. Oddly enough, it's usually not the creator doing it but other people taking it personally on the creators behalf. Your idea that a comment strictly about the video must actually be all about the creator actually just broadcasts that, if anything, it's you who can't look past the personality and judge the video on just the video's merits.

(For the record, I didn't say the comment either although it is exactly the type of thing I would say if I could remember Momentum or Waking Hour at all)

A better example of what you mean would be a quick comment on one of the projects decoy and I were part of. I don't recall it exactly and am too lazy to look it up but it was along the lines of 'I can't believe the creator of NTB stooped to doing THIS'. Similarly I've seen various peoples videos dismissed as 'it ain't no (insert title of their most popular work here)'.

this be it?

I would find it rather interesting if someone were to experiment on this hypothesis. In example, if [insert name brand editor here] were to make a video and exchange it to a Lesser Known Editor. This would go likewise with this low name to make a video and exchange with the Higher known editor. Though typing out this idea probably expired the whole thing.

We keep talking about this double standard crap but I don't see anyone making a cite of quotes of certain individuals. like quotes from the same person talking about effects in a somebody's video vs them talking about a video with effects on a video that was made by this big name editor, friend and/or studio member. Or is it just that some like to complain but people are too afraid to explain.
