The point is that the quote from the topic creator implies that if he/she doesn't like the song, then the video will receive a low score from him/her regardless of whether or not the video matched the song or not. Rating an AMV on song alone (or 2/3 on song, in this case) is ignorant and narrow-minded. Objectivity (which you brought up) is looking at the video as a whole.
I don't consider myself qualified to rate a vid on its artistic value, nor did I know that I'm supposed to. I thought the stars rating is supposed to say how much you liked it, and to me, in a music vid, the music's far more important than the vid.
Of course I realize that this unfair to the amv creator; that's one of the reasons I'm asking for music style info. How about a 15sec preview/prelisten version of about 300KB?
Or a list of the main instruments and a voice description (male, hoarse, deep, screaming, approx. age....)
