- Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
- When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.

New Sailor Moon vid - How Can We See That Far?
Not only is this my first post on the Forum, it's also announcing my first-ever AMV! It's set to Amy Grant's How Can We See That Far, and was a lot of fun to create once the "hard work" (ie, editing clips) was all done.

right if that's the case then I suggest you actually Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides (or the new link if someone else can post it as i haven't got it here wif me) particually the parts about interlacing, aspect ratio, avisynth, and improving visual quality.video description wrote:Clips were edited using the AMV vid pack, including AviSynth and VirtualDub. The AMV itself was created using Windows Movie Maker.
Sailor moon is old and looks pretty bad... this looks shockingly bad there may be some people about who have edited sailor moon and can help you with a script for it(I'm not one of those people).
about the editing, with this kind of songXanime it looks smoother if you cross fade more (in WMM that means drag one clip over the top of another so they overlap) this will be less jarring on the viewer than straight cutting from clip to clip
about the storyline: i haven't really seen many sailor moon videos for a very long time and i hate most of them anyway but there are a few gems out there... but there is nothing new or interesting about this storyline or even the way it was presented. ok it's your first amv? well I think you did a prett damn good job for a first amv there are allot of technical problems but thats to be expected, but back to my point about story, what you have is presented cliops from all over the series in no logical order, try to put yourself in the shoes of the viewer when you look at your video stuff like "they kiss from season 4 and then the villian from season 1 is killing darien and then they kiss again and sailor moon is wearing a completely different outfit from another season...." this is what I mean. Also in building your story it would have been nice to see more of the villian and the lead up other than they appear for a clip and the darien and serina go back to kissing eachother or holding rini... then there is no rini and so on. This is how you lost me on the story

anyway, I've seen worse first videos, much worse, so keep it up and dont be discouraged by what I said above it's not me being nasty , I'm sure your next one will be heaps better.

new banzors in the making :p

Also... I suggest actually purchasing a different editor. You can get Magix or Vegas somewhere in the range of $50-200... which is only like a days pay if you have a job...

Apologies for not responding personally before now. I've had a lot on my plate, and I was trying to see how I could fine-tune this vid. I don't want anyone to think I don't appreciate the feedback, and in fact I've been working on cleaning this thing up for a day or two now.
I was made aware of the interlacing issue through Quick Comments; unfortunately, at the time, I didn't know how to fix the problem. See, the vid had saved as a .wmv, which VirtualDub will not touch due to patent issues with MS. But I was able to DL a converter program, convert the video file to .avi, and run it through VirtualDub that way in order to filter it and further clean it up. I've tested it on a number of video players on my laptop, and it seems to look a lot better than the original file. Especially with regards to the interlacing issue.
The only drawback? The fixed version is a bit too big to host here on a-m-v.org. It's up on my FTP site, which is linked to if you go to the original link posted above. I really hope this one looks better than the AMV hosted one.
Thanks for hanging in with me!

if you compress the avi with xvid or take it through zarxgui or meigui you can get any file small enough to put on this site.
though my firefox says it's only 39mb that's plenty small enough to host here O.o
you would just have to request a deletion of the local file and then you should be able to upload it again.
