#amv-review log - Because Kio can't figure out cut 'n paste

The audience comments came about because we try to figure out where the editor is coming from. After all, if someone tried to make a drama and ended up causing laughter it should be judged differently that someone who actually set out to make a comedy. There are differences in group viewing and home viewing and a good editor will take advantage of those differences depending on who their intended audience is. So the target audience is a valid subject to discuss

But wouldn't that influence the overall concept, rather than be based in the target audience? Especially the part about comedy/drama. What I'm trying laboriously to get to is this: we shouldn't "shun" a video based on what the target audience is. Sure, it's a valid point to point out, but it shouldn't influence on the overall concept of the video.

It didn't seem to me like they were shunning it for that reason (or any reason really; if it were shunned, wouldn't it have been ignored and not have been reviewed at all?). As far as I could tell, they were just repeatedly pointing out that it works better at conventions than at home.

Maybe my statement was vague as to it's purpose... let me explain. If you do this to random noobs they're going to start posting topics about a group of people ganging up on them and flaming their work - this shows that it's not "popular editors" bawwwing over something that's blown out of proportion - it might even be a valid complaint about how things are handled.

According to comments earlier in this thread I'm allowed "tearing the random pieces of shit of complete nobodies a new one". It's talking about the cool kids of the org that's not allowed. Actually, I had a bad choice of words there. >_< When I meant shun, I meant as in shunning the concept of the video in retrospect to the review, based soley on the target audience.

But it is actually irrelevent, as I really wan't taking about "The Audition", I was more speaking to Songbird21's video a few weeks back. Though I guess "The Audition" does fit the same frame of mind. :O

You should have been expecting it, this is EXACTLY what has been repeatedly suggested in this thread that we do. Although I must say I'm disappointed, random pieces of shit of complete nobodies just don't bite like they used to.

I'm not saying that the review should only choose newbie videos, I'm just saying that the trend I've seen lately is the video choices seem to be a way of using review to "trash talk" more popular videos or as a way of "putting other people's egos into place"... even when said editors may or may not have an ego about their vid.

I'm also not saying that Godix should trash a newbie less/more than a seasoned vet. I know Godix trashes everyone, and thats how it should be.

I'm saying that there should be more choices than just the videos that have gotten lots of (forum) attention. What about the videos that don't get as much notice? they are left in the silence... What I'm saying that sticking to only "popular editors" is elitist.

it was number 52. But the discussion was never posted. It was the first review Kionon had run after taking over for quadir. So Kionon lost it, so I have no idea what was said about mine.
