If the attitude is "we want to review everything without our critical eye" and not "we want to knock popular videos down a peg" then consider the entire database as fair game. Spend a few months tearing the random pieces of shit of complete nobodies a new one and see how it all works out in the forums afterwards.

I'm not being snarky... do it! if you have the balls to that is.

I agree with bashar... it seems lately the videos chosen lately have been videos that are popular and ones people just want to tear down just because they are popular...

3. wtf Driftroot your video was better then mine?!?
Actually, I did not say anything in regards to #3, so please don't imply that I did... (that was someone else after my post)

And based on your arguments, anyone then is also entitled to making comments in the thread based on comments made in the discussion to it in the first place (therwise don't post the log)... Fr my self, I did say I was fine with most of the discussion, just bothered my to use words like idots to people not being AMV creators and thus I expressed my opinion on that...

In the end, if people are going to hold discussions where they can say what ever they want how thay want, then they shoudl also be ready to have reactionas to that in the thread the log is posted in (and this is not the first time nor will it probably be that last).

At the beginning, the reviews were worth the read because they were actually reviews. They've become little more than flame-fests at this point, I haven't read anything that wasn't a bad comment in a good long time. Perhaps they're just always picking out videos that they hate, but either way you're right, they have lost their usefulness.

Actually it may be the last. Lesson of the week, don't bother posting logs. So I won't anymore, at least not on the weeks I run things.

Which includes the review starting in a few hours if anyone wants to join and make more of a difference besides just being flat out wrong like half the comments in this thread have been.

That's what -review is all about, talking about amvs. I'd say when's the last time that happened, but there's been a lot of interest of late in this kind of content in the community, I'm really happy about that.

That was actually the best discussion I've had yet.

I want to do THAT more, it was way more relaxed and informal that way.

about about theis for a suggestion:

Don't Post the logs.. I know someone can always do it, but the less chance of it the better for threads appearing like this... Then how about inviting the creator of the video to be disussed to join (let him know a day or two before) and that way atleast that person is part of the dicussion and maybe that might help in better understanding what it's all about instead of speculation

It doesn't sound like the people running the show will be posting logs. To be honest I never had a public problem with the logs with 1 year of running the review. Sounds like the trolls decided to ruin it for everyone else, and I doupt they really know they are destroying a great thing.

Editors are ALWAYS invited. If you want to participate, then come to review. It's that simple. If you don't come, you won't get to participate. It's an open invitation. We've often had the editors there. Oto comes to mind.

The video is announced ahead of time as well, it would be easy to keep track if your video was coming up. We won't spoon feed you though. If you don't want to participate, that's up to you.

Editors also need to realize that this isn't an announcement thread/discussion, and that they don't control it, it's not about them. It's about the fans. The non-editing if you will, the enjoying of video and the content that is in our medium. So it doesn't matter if you "don't want it" or "are insulted" at something someone said, it's not about you. Nor is it a dialogue between the editor and his "fans".

-Review will always happen, it happens in pms, in groups at the con showings, in groups at people's houses (who here shows amvs to their friends?), at anime clubs, in journals and blogs and chatrooms. We're an amv community, start acting like one.

I really don't see anything else of value coming out of this thread. Whenever anything is brought up it's met with more spin, tangential remarks, and feigned ignorance than a political debate.

I'll suggest this again - Start reviewing videos from no-name editors that don't have a star rating above 3.5 in the same way you're doing now and see what comes of it. If the editor truly doesn't matter than this won't be a problem at all.
