Extra member profile customizations

I know this isn't something of major imprtantance
It's just a lil ideal i had.

It would be neat if when you go to edit your profile,
you can have options to costomize some stuff on your profile
like background color, font color etc.
It would allow you to do more with your page besides just changing your pic
and updating your favorites list and stuff.
Some people probably wouldn't care about stuff like that but it would be cool
for those that like to have their own costum setup.

This isn't something major that the site needs but if it's easy to program, it
would be a pretty neat feature.
Sorry if this is something that has already been brought up before.

If its just limited to color setups and no background images and junk like that it shouldn't be too hard. We could put the site skin feature to some good use again.

eh, you can kinda do that now...but you have to use css and are limited to using <a> tags
(I used the above to insert avatars into my profile)

I mean FULLY customizable CSS. I know how to use it so it's not a problem. But as far as I know, you can't add background images or change the text and stuff like that. I customize my online profiles with CSS all the time.

the whole reason I mentioned my profile last time was because I did add images (added a few more things for demonstration. changed the font, font color, background color, manipulated where the background color is using  )

as long as it's in an <a> tag...

it's true that the things you can do are quite limited, but there is a way to work with the restriction.

If the middle column is opened up for customization, there's nothing I know of that prevents people from making their profile wider/taller than it should be.

this probably sounds mean, but i don't see any reason we should make the profiles here like myspace...

have you seen the "slop" on myspace? some of the ugliest profiles ever... gaiaonline is worse... this isn't exactly a social networking site, sure we do socialize and whatnot but its not like we need to impress anyone with our profile crapness.... Social Networking isn't the main goal of this site.

I was thinking more of veoh's profiles. People tend to get really creative and really fancy with the CSS customization. I went for a simple Haruhi background.

Black text on a white background is a readable page. Red text on a pink background with sparkling hearts flashing, 4 tube videos going at once, and a fucking sappy ass song automatically loading is not. If you want myspace then go to myspace. I prefer the org to be usable instead.
