It is better to have a nice, complete FAQ available for all to read then to neglect it because some people may not use it.meleechampion wrote:Pssh, faq? Who reads those? Unless you're stuck in a game or something...
First time login page should read "Lurk Moar." and link to the forums.
I think this is the age old problem, the people who would benefit the most from reading a faq aren't going to read them by nature.
I love to wear absurd and totally impractical garments. What's more, I derive great pleasure from spending time with women for no apparent reason.

Actually, this is largely due to reporting error. Those people that do really need the FAQs and do use them, you never hear from because they've sorted their problem already.meleechampion wrote:I think this is the age old problem, the people who would benefit the most from reading a faq aren't going to read them by nature.

As far as who the heck reads FAQs - part of the usefulness of a FAQ is being able to point people who DON'T read them in the right direction without much hassle.
A "How to Use a-m-v.org" approach might be a good way to start evaluating how the existing FAQ could be organized into specific sections, which of those sections need fleshing out and what sections need to be added. *shrug* Or maybe not, I'm sure the admins have their own ideas and will know best what will or will not work.
