"Stream attribute could not be determined."

Post by OmegaEnd » Sun Apr 20, 2008 12:22 pm

Hi folks!

For a long time I tried out many different versions of Sony Vegas. I often had problems with my codecs. I know there a tons of threads like this...but I really didn't find a good solution. Everytime I import a video file to Vegas there stands: " Stream attribute could not be determined".or something like that. Sometimes it helped just to install divx (it wasn't the newest version but it worked well)...sometimes not (also when I tried the newest ones). I can use the huffyuv codec without problem..except the problem that huffyuv causes. Well it is a uncompressed codec with nice quality..but I haven't enough free space on my PC to use so much clips encoded with this. The program avic also helped me sometimes....but when i have footage with XviD this program doesn't help. Now I search for an easy way that makes my videos work on Vegas.

Can you give me some advice? It would be cool if you give me your opinions.^^

But seriously, all NLE's will be pissy with DivX/XviD files. They aren't meant for editing; they are meant for distribution. I suggest a cheap, 7200 RPM external HDD. (Or not so cheap if you have the money for it. 1TB HDDs rock. 8-) )
... yea ...

Even if I have TBs it's a pain in the ass to encode everything with huffyuv. xD Is there a way to encode them automatically?

:sigh: Think I have to switch to DVD footage.

But DVD footags costs fcking much and it's not worth it just buying footage that you just need for editing. xD I think I'll search for some new Animes on DVD..maybe that will do better. xD
