My brother is a sports editor for a large newspaper in Ottawa.

He has a nice income. Ok he makes a very nice income.

He lives in the better neighborhood, not just the good neighborhood.

Hmm I am failing to see the flaw in having anything to do with the media.

But back when he was in college learning to be a journalist, there wasn't any online existence like there is today.

Today the formal media has to compete with the fact that each one of us is essentially able to go online, and form a blog, or use something like the well known video source and be the news ourselves.

So what if CNN is full of it and just sound bites. We willingly listen to joe nobody schmuck that has no formal training, and is answerable to no one, rant and rave online as well.

If it's on Wiki it must be true.

Print mediums have it really harsh. It's not easy to sell a magazine when everyone already knows anything that might have been printed in it.
This forum is a great example of how we don't really even need the formal news any more. Anyone with a cell phone can get video of breaking news and dump it online unedited and uncensored without any regulatory worries.

It's amazing formal media sources can survive at all.
Anime, one of the few things about the internet that doesn't make me hate the internet.
