There is only one genre: romance. All videos can be boiled down to the love of something. Action- the love of fighting. Romance- the love of another. Horror- the love of fear. AMV Hell- the love of random clips meant to be humorous.

Romance ought to be the only category but reality is cruel. :( I love sentimental AMVs. They make my cry!

The only thing the gives me trouble in categorizing some AMVs into one genre is the fact that a lot of them are multiple genres wrapped into one package. (i.e. action and drama often [try to] get lumped together.)

But I guess that's why we can label videos with multiple categories here.
... yea ...

Would a video that makes your computer explode scare you? Does that mean it would count as horror?

what the heck is the 'serious' genre anyway, i never tick it because i don't understand it, if serious is about mature/adult themes then shouldn't that belong in drama?

On that same token, I've never really understood what the "drama" category is supposed to entail. Can someone please explain what drama is?

Drama is a romance AMV, minus the romantic elements? :/

that depends on how close I am to my computer at the time of explosion, and if it were a surprise... however the video is probably not what would scare more so than the explosion.

however if the files on my computer were lost I'd be rather sad..

would that make the video a drama or a sentimental?
