Conventions show them because the fans like them. Also they tend to buy the rights to broadcast the music, and sometimes get Anime Licensing companies to promote the contests... (I suppose Licensing Companies see AMVs as free advertising?)

Technically, yes because you're breaking the copy protection on the DVDs to do so. That's not a copy write infringement issue, it's a DMCA extra bullshit issue. The real issue (i.e. the one you'd be charged with if it ever came to it) would stem from the distribution of the audio in your AMV.hasteroth wrote:Oh I see now. But wow. Not that I haven't broken it before...

Oh well then I don't give a crap. I'll make AMV whether the man likes it or not. THanks for the clarification. Yea it is so allow me to bring it a lil back onto topic. It seems to me that most (if not all) that we have talked to seems to like the current rating system that has implemented. We have , however, gotten some different feedback regarding the videos. Not taking into account money or bandwidth, would anyone like to see streamed videos like on youtube on this site??? Our new idea is that you could watch the video and would have an option to download if you wanted to. If not this then how about just a brief sample of the video? Let me know what you guys think about this. Also below is a link to one of my class blogs

feel free to visit there and post ideas and thoughts regarding the project in a bit more professional atmosphere. I would ask that you do be professional and provide constructive feedback not only regarding the rating system but the video system as well. Thanks.

I don't know if this was posted in this topic or if it was another one (there have been so many o.O), but as far as the streaming thing goes, I don't much support it for this site. BUT, if it were to happen, one interesting way to implement it would be to allow the creator to embed a video that has been uploaded to another streaming site into the Video Info page. That way you could still watch the video without downloading it but you wouldn't have to sacrifice a ton of bandwidth to do it.
Again, at this point, I have no idea who I just stole that idea from, but I confess not thinking of that myself.
