I mean give you warnings and let you learn not to spam? Rather than send you an email saying "Ban warning etc. etc." Also it can root out people who do not deserve to be part of the org. without disturbing the experienced members.JaddziaDax wrote:uh I don't believe being lenient on spam is a good way to show the newbs how to get along on this site :/

Or you could read the rules and pay attention to how people behave.hasteroth wrote:I mean give you warnings and let you learn not to spam? You know, the way you learn your way around any social circle. Being a noob is no excuse for breaking the rules.

Doesn't that mean being LESS lenient with rule-breaking like spamming? I thought you were arguing for the opposite.hasteroth wrote:I never said it was. But wouldn't it be nice to get rid of rulebreakers before they cause problems for the non-newbs?Kalium wrote: Being a noob is no excuse for breaking the rules.

lol I'm confusing myself.Kitsuner wrote:Doesn't that mean being LESS lenient with rule-breaking like spamming? I thought you were arguing for the opposite.hasteroth wrote:I never said it was. What I mean is:
Make a section where people who are new to the forums "should" go. They don't have to but let's say the rules are stricter outside of the noob forum. Inside the rules are more lenient so noobs will be more likely to go there. BUT if you break the rules in there it's instant, permanent ban but only after a few warnings (more warnings for newbs). That way the people who can't handle the newb sections rules wouldn't be able to handle the regular forum. I like to think of it as optional training. Note the OPTIONAL. Also if a newb breaks the rules in the regular forum the punishment is swift and severe thus encourage the use of the "training" section.
There might be a few contradictions in there but you guys get the gist of it, right?

okay seriously I still don't think being lenient is the way to go...
people already get "a few warnings" when they do bad things... so it's not like anything is gonna change by making a new forum like that. What they give them 6 warnings instead of 3? The mods here already give people a chance (and warnings and whatnot) before banning.
And keeping the locals out would only go to make things worse when they are allowed to come out of their special forum because it will be like a culture shock once they start socializing with the rest of us. They will still be considered n00bs because they haven't learned how this site works.
