if you are trying to make it appear from the smallest box to a larger size then yea of course it's gonna go like that, cause it's technically several squares smushed together, so the smaller you make them the less they run into each other, they more they stand out as squares instead of a bar...

if you want them to change size, what i'd suggest is start out the smallest size that still looks like a bar then make it grow bigger, and actually FADE IN, use the crossfade transition (which is the default transition so no you don't need to find it anywhere)

if you are looking for a "barn door" transition, just use the barn door transition....
