Things I wish I knew before I started:
1) Popular anime of the month always beats the creative and intellectual pairing of song and anime.
2) Conforming to a compliant, recognized digital standard is way more work than it is to use some weirdass codec.
2a) It's clearly the contest coordinator's fault if they can't play my video.
3) My time would have been better spent forcing a specific program to do something that it was never meant to do, and then bitch on forums about said app crashing, instead of actually learning and understanding the whole process.
4) The number of submissions that you crank out for AMV Hell is directly related to the size of your e-peen.

5) The only thing that sucks more than AMVs is the people who make AMVs
"If someone feels the need to 'express' himself or herself with a huge graphical 'singature' that has nothing to do with anything, that person should reevaluate his or her reasons for needing said form of expression, possibly with the help of a licensed mental health practitioner."

"Epenis doesn't matter. What others think of the video doesn't matter. Hell, for that matter this entire hobby doesn't matter. If you have fun then you did it right. Any rule other than that is just minor crap."
Could not have said it better.
