How to get you to watch?

Post by Elphaba95 » Sat Mar 22, 2008 9:17 am

So i feel like no one is watching my amv's. I understand my quality so far has sucked but my next one will be much better. I want people to watch my videos and tell me what they think. I can't improve or learn if no one tells me what they see. I want other prespectives. True I might not agree but it's always not to see what others see.

Getting attention is almost as hard as making a decent video. Making a decent video however will get you attention. Hence, watch decent videos and learn, so you can emulate and then finally get attention, and then improve from just decent to actually good videos... and then profit. No and then.

The best way to get attention is usually to just talk about how amazing and epic you believe your new video to be in the announcement thread (including the topic). Org trolls will immediately rush to prove you wrong, post after post, multiple pages guaranteed.

Frankly it's hard. I've seen plenty of 'unknowns' make great videos that unfortunately no one watches. So unfortunately I disagree that making a good AMV is enough.

I'd say intangibles like forum presence (sad ain't it?) and con presence help (even though they shouldn't and just making a good video should be enough).

I agree...making a great video isn't enough. But I don't really think it's a bad thing that you have to advertise. Things like forum presense and con showings can be forms of advertising. Everyone who wants people to notice something has to somehow say "Hey! This thing exists!" whether it's directly through a con submission or forum thread, or an indirect advertisement like being on the "new vid on the block" list. You can have a masterpiece painting but you will never get people to see it if no one knows it was painted. :)

It's even more important if people have to wade through an ocean of muck to get to it.

FAQ: How to get attention if you made really good video

At first work with your profile:

1) Make some description of yourself. Fill some info about best animies and AMVs
2) Don’t post in your account really poor videos, try to make every video better than previous.
3) It’s better to have good Star Scale next to every your video (at least one 3.8 and higher can make a deal)
4) It’s better to have all yellow fields in “average received“ in your profile

At second present your new video:

1) Video must be MP4, worse if it DivX. If it WMV you’ll miss almost all audience.
2) After adding make a good description and poster, put it in video description
3) Make announce thread here (with poster and description of course): http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/viewforum.php?f=3 try to get as many replies there as possible
4) Try to exchange opinions here: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/viewforum.php?f=6
5) Check contest list here and enter as many as possible: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/help/calendar/

Every new good video, which you make, will have more and more attention.
