it was pretty hard to edit anything to that song.

Frankly I find it somewhat amusing that all parties involved didn't want the judges picking music because they didn't "want a repeat" of online IC tournament where some people weren't happy with their music choices. Yet every song used as far as I can recall thus far has been utterly useless and god-awful.

my first song choice was strategic and we won - so yeah it works if you play the game (not pointing fingers)

exactly, it seemed to me that the reason people were picking their own sources and having them used randomly in the contest was to prevent people getting "un-editable" songs that could be chosen by the judges.

but really, it ended up being worse cause the system got abused for lame strategies (that sometimes ended up backfiring on them anyway)

In all honesty, I really did not expect to win. That was the most difficult song I've ever had to edit to, made even harder by my (our) source choice. I have to agree with DJ that the judges should probably pick the song for the next round.

Still, considering the circumstances, that was a very interesting match that prYzm and I had. :)

after watching ur vid i definetly think you deserved to win, but ya, we both got screwed royally in the song/source clash. and i still hold that the song i picked is very editable. and can be used for multiple styles ( i specifically picked the song cause pretty much anyone can edit it any way they want). but it hasnt randomed up yet =(

the practicality of judge choice songs is definitely superior but for the spirit of this contest I thought the song choice method used contributed to the studio vs studio factor. By removing any outside influences it enhances any rivalry stakes albeit small by giving full control to the studios to what is actually involved in the contest.

To have the best of both worlds i guess their could be a compromise and have the 3 judges list like five songs each and then have the studios then pick 5 each to be added to the pool.
