Ok, without mentioning names
Is mentioning the location mentioned clearly in the General AMV forum that recently shut down, raised platform followed by an obvious obvious numeral (which is apparently not against the rules to mention), and then inquiring if the really similar named location, numeral switched to other end of name and repeated twice such a problem?
I was really just asking, it if is the same people. Frankly I only wanted a yes or no reply.
Which was vexing as you failed to even say yes or no.
And while I was thinking it was a questionable location (hence why I never used a link), but considering I have seen the location mentioned on another proper commercial forum where the membership likely has several times the density of legally qualified individuals (actually I know of a few that actually are lawyers), that failed to see it as a matter or extreme importance to get in a state of mention of it.
I am still interested in knowng if it the same people.
Thought it might have interested all those lamenting the closing of the location mentioned in General AMV considering discussing the one mentioned there is NOT an infraction.
I apologize if bringing it up again is a problem, but as I was not even PMed in any fashion, I am wondering, was my post censored without really any thought?
Is it even true the site is violating copyright?
For the record, I couldn't care less if the place exists. I have no particular interest in it. I get my downloads where the wise get their downloads, off a newsgroup.

Could you possibly refer to it in a more confusing way?
If you're getting at what I think you're getting at, sites like that may have content that is illegal, but the individuals holding the copyright may not choose to prosecute for whatever reason. Unless of course the site makes itself so obnoxious that it leaves them no choice but to enforce the laws and shut it down, as we have seen.

if I get it right a link to a site where you can download Animes you published was locked by a Mod ?
It's just that this site doesn't wannna have to risky topics around here. I mean if you want rly want to talk about Anime-Sharing there are better websites for it since this is an amv community.
Dunno to the fansubber sites (u know lincesed animes and so on, depens on the country you live in)

I saw the topic. The site you were talking about offered free movie downloads. Of course the topic was removed.
You called it by name. Clearly. The only difference between the url and what you called it was the '.com'
A-M-V.org has a no-tolerance policy on that. By all rights you should have been banned.

I refer to my locked link in General Anime. Actually, I thought I was still in General Anime when I started this thread
That much was a goof up.
Now if you look down a few threads to the site being discussed that was/is being closed down, and you look at my other thread in General Anime.
The question I sought answer to, was, were the two places, the same place, but re opened under a new name variation (of only marginal difference in name).
It seems odd I can utter the name, dare I say it Stage6, and yet not utter the name of the place, which according to my son IS the same people.
I provided no link. I am unaware of exactly what Stage6 was, as I never went there. My first encounter with Stage6, was the thread announcing it was closing actually.
As to the legal nature of one or the other or both sites, well, if we can mention Stage6 (does that mean it was ok to mention it legal or otherwise), why not the other place? Especially as it appears they are the same.
You seeeeeeee I thought, hey if it's ok to mention Stage6, why is the policy different for the other place (considering it is apparently the same place).
I thought to mention it, only because I thought it might actually please some here to know.
I by the way am not a lawyer. I am only fundamentally aware of the reality of the internet
The site under so much debate here, has the ole message to the effect, "oh we don't host files here" blah blah blah, you've got to have heard that pathetic line of thinking before.
That's par for the course for virtually any form of torrent site on the internet.
Including by the way, all of our supposedly honourable fan subbing sites.
They all don't "host" the files. They never claim to actually be actually responsible for anything at all.
To be honest, the org likely is more a host for illegal content than any of the torrent sites. Ironic isn't it.
I'd be happy by the way. If someone would simply step up and say "yes they are the same site" and they are not allowed to be mentioned according to the rules.
For any still confused, no, it isn't boochscrotum

Hmm, ban me eh. Well, I asked an honest question, and yes, I KNOW the rules back to front. Banning me would have only been a good way to completely, and utterly ensure I dumped any interest in contributing financially to the org, and I'd likely just join under a new name if I desperately needed to post more.
I wouldn't rejoin though, I never go back to a place that bans me for nearly no provocation, and without warning I might add.
I still have not been messaged privately on any of this matter I will add.

What, do you need more fibre in your diet or something per chance?
Full of myself? explain how any of that was "full of myself".
Come on, offer up a justification. Or are you only good for pointless snide comments?

Ok, official hat on here.
The rule states that you cannot make posts that contain illegal materials (including downloadable episodes/movies etc), or advice on how to get them. This includes posting links to sites that offer these quantities. Discussing a site by name and linking to it is admitedly a hazy distinction, but in general once there's a link that's where we have to draw the line as moderators. We are all individuals working with the same set of rules and that can lead to inconsistencies, but by and large we work towards the same goals: keeping the website running to its intended purpose and within the rules we are given.

Would this also cover the account lestheanimesarge1, registered in July 2007, that you also have? It is easier to preach than to practise, after all. We do notice these things and they are discussed and dealt with in due course.lestheanimesarge wrote:I wouldn't rejoin though, I never go back to a place that bans me for nearly no provocation, and without warning I might add.
