Why is it that I have to be rich to watch anime?

I am not in debt, but I do live at home with my parents and have to continue to depend on them since I can't get a job (I am going Jr college, or as I call it, prison with an open gate policy, but I plan to use it to leam some things, like japanese, programing, and art.) And I too, have no car, or drivers licence. so as you see anime is not something I can do. But I also, would like to add that my parents are what you would call jehova's witnesses, and while they don't mind anime in and of itself, they have what some would call I high moral standard, so most anime people can watch I have to look over carefully to see if they will mind or not (or Hide it on my comp.) So even if I like the movie I can't watch it because of them (Anything with cursing, nudity, fanservice, spiritism, and gore. that leaves out most of my list.)
So lets say I am astounded by vampire hunter D bloodlust, can't buy it even if I want to.
now don't begin to think that they dont watch movies, hell some of the stuff I see them watching surpises ME to see them watch it. but even they fall pray to a double standard. Example
All the presidents men, originaly rated R, says the word fuck 17 times or more (from the half hour or so I was watching), they don't mind.
Scryed, says the word 'shit' in the fansub ocasionaly, they can watch all the presidents men, but I can't watch scryed. So as you can see, my suprt of anime is hampered more than I would like it to be.

Oh and nappy, the only thing worse than my typing is your twisted perception of reality. where in heaven or hell did you get the strange and might I add insane idea that there was any anime at a rental place worth renting, if I plan of watching an anime made after a one on one fighting game I'll make sure to head over to blockbuster, hey, maybe I'll see you there renting battle arena toshinden or tekken.

Also, that's not sarcasm, I mean it. Seriously. If I had parents like that, I would have gone crazy a lot sooner. (As it was, this past October, I did go crazy and left home with nowhere to go. I am living with my freidn Jacob for now, but I have to get a job so I can pay rent here or I am gonna possibly get kicked out of here come January. Sigh. I hope I can get a job tomorrow ehn I go out looking.. now that my car is fixed, I can finally go further out than just places in the area of my apartment building. What a concept. And I do have some money set aside to renew my plates finally.. so I'll be more legal than I am now when on the road

Thank god I am an awesome driver.)

OK, both our lives suck, lets leave it at that before someone diceds to use this stuff against us in a flame war. as you can plainly see, I like anonymity, and I try to maintain it. And I think I have revealed enough about myself to fuel the next 8-10 flame wars I get into.

CaT: You have to admit that you're in sort of a special situation there. But for everyone else, we still have friends to borrow from, pool resources with, and stores to rent from. I remember teaming up with a couple of friends to buy Ranma 1/2 when it was first coming out. There's no need to steal-by-downloading when you can rent just as easily, and it only costs you a buck or three.

err o_O I rent at a small chain of stores that has every american release, alot of imports, and even rents out fansubs (not sure if thats legal but oh well) all on vhs and dvd. Like I said (not that you listen) if you can't find a decent place that rents anime try netflix.com they rent out anything that's on dvd, I don't goto blockbuster but I know they have Eva, Bebop, Mononoke, among many others at my local one. Perhaps I come from a strange and insane place, I call it outside, check it out sometime

You might want to try to find solutions instead of bitching about prices to amv creators, I promise it will be more constructive.

Yeah thank God Blockbuster is finally wisening up to the world of anime. Ours has started getting more and more. So far, the good anime they've gotten is Now and Then, Here and There along with some Miyazaki and Ghibli stuff. They're also getting the Berserk series as it comes out. And they've gotten Death and Rebirth, but none of the series or End of Eva. Plus, they've gotten some anime movies I hadn't heard of. So, I'm guessing they'll keep getting more since the anime is rented pretty often.

Really? Mine doesn't have much good anime to rent. Most of it looks like crap.
