The room covers about 30,000 sq. feet. It's rated for close to three thousand people, but I don't think the AMV show has ever filled it.
I believe we came close last year
What kills it is the back middle section
the back side sections have the 2 wing screens as is displayed in the picture, the back middle does not have a screen. The arguement for why it does not is "It would make it less appealing because people couldnt see the stage

And what goes on on the stage during an amv contest that's so riveting? Are we going to be up there acting out our amv's live, "Rocky Horror Picture Show"-style? That's just silliness. Is there somebody we can pelt with emails about setting up a screen mid-room, Dinger?

I would wait until after the con as its too late in the year to have 1 added in, and currently a pelting of emails right now could slow down work needing to be done for the con

My suggestion is attend Assault and Flattery at the end of the convention and bring up concerns there.

I did voice that the screen would be beneficial for the room a few times.

Also I just finally bought a digital Camera so this year I will take some pics of the Main Events Room. 4000X3000 12.1 MegaPixil FTW

Will do. Delay of emails, pelting, to the Assault and Flattery section post-Con. :)

I would just like to state how I think it's funny that all the discussion for the AMV Contest is going on here at this forum, rather than the actual SAKURA CON forum. I was quite amused at that fact. :P

It's cool so have so much capacity!

Ironically I always hate that they have the control equipment right in the middle to block off fan's few of the stage... Yes, I am very much aware of why they do that As I have set up rooms for cons of that size before... However there are ways of doing it a lot better...

Dinger, try to make them reset the brightness for anime.. They always set the projectors for more live action stuff (whick is darker in nature) and that is why is it is so washed out! Ironic since it's an anime con to begin with!

Already talked with the Head of Tech, and he said that when they are setting up the projectors I can have them balance them for anime as well, so I will have a copy of the AMV contest with me for that

Hey Dinger,
Just curious... how many total entries were there this year? I see we have 36 finalists being shown.
