Well, I've never ripped anything before so this is probably a piece of cake for someone else but hear me out. So, I got my DVD, my decrypter program, A DivX converter to reduce file size, an AC3 filter for sound (which doesn't do much good anyhow) and I did all the necassary stuff so that now I have an entire movie saved as a DivX file on my computer. The problem is, it won't play on any of my video editing programs. Is there a way to change the file format of a DivX movie? Or will I have to start all over again?
Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.

I have a feeling this might be the problem:

DIVX is very buggy, sometimes it will work, most of the time it wont... try using a codec that is more compatible for editing like lagarith or huffyuv. Both make large files so making clips of only the parts you need will help you.
