Why is it that I have to be rich to watch anime?

Downloading some media does go against copyright laws.

Okay, so those ones that you d/l and don't buy... that's illegal. Well, it's technically illegal either way, even if you do buy them, but it's also immoral in the case of the ones you don't like. I just don't d/l anime, period. And I don't have a job, or money, or cable. But I manage to live with it.

If that's the case, I never would have got Eva, Tenchi, and Bebop among many others. It's stupid to assume everyone as the time or the inclination to find and download every anime they are told is great and worth every penny by many people. Especially those with 56k and/or don't know about fansubs or how to find them. People go to the movies solely based on a trailer or word of mouth, and shell out 7-10 dollars to view it once, a dvd will cost about 20 and you can resell it if you don't like it or keep it forever if you do. Perhaps thats alot of money to those with no jobs, who have their parents pay for their DSL and electric bill.

i dunno where you shop, but i've never seen a dvd for 20 dollars. and its true that 20 dollars isnt much. however if you go out and buy every single dvd that you heard from a friend is really good, it adds up to much more. and actually i do have a job, i just happen to be overly protective with my money and a cheapskate. thats just me though

haha, you dont think you're cooler than me? besides whats wrong with being a jackass, lighten up and get a sense of humor. point is i dont really see what your point is. so you dont have a job or money or cable and manage to live with it. what's your point? are you saying all people should be like you? that you're better and more moral of a person that you can keep from straying from the righteous path and not *gasp* d/l anime?

point is i dont wanna argue about it cause a) its way off topic b) it'd take a long time to argue and discuss and c) when it comes right down to it, its all about personal opinions and philosophies. internet laws are just coming out and are still being argued over. its still in development. so according to some judges and laws its illegal, and to others its either not illegal or illegal only if this and this and this happens.so until the whole thing is settled, there is no right answer.

And no, I don't think I'm "cooler" than you, whatever you mean by it. My point was that anime isn't a necessity, so there's no reason to steal it. I was just talking about myself, you don't have to make assumptions and blow it out of proportion. So if you don't want to talk about this, stop ranting and throwing out sarcastic comments that have no relevance. This is actually still close to the topic. But if anything, what you're saying is making it off topic.

If you are that desperate for a deal, go to Canada and buy it. the currency conversion works in your favour and not for its residents... you shouldn't complain as Canadians have to pay more ONTOP of what you regularly pay.

If you want it... buy it regarldless of price. I bought Utena the movie $60 first week... why? because I wanted it. Escaflwone:The Movie SE is $90+ and I will pay for it... why? Because I want it. They have to pay for NA shows and movies DVDs which are barebones and sometimes poor quality. Be glad with what you get because you could be easily be getting nothing!
