Why is it that I have to be rich to watch anime?

First, off, the few shows that are worth watching I do watch, secondly, I have been trying to learn japanese so I can understand what the people are sayign so I wont need the sub titles, and thrildy, translating and subbign things does not cost as much as you make it out to be, because there are a bunch of people that are doing fansubs out of their own pocket in their free time, so either these people doing this stuff are richer than the studio's, or the studio's are out to make money. And lets not forget that the voice actors they get to do these dub's arent exactly what I would call 'Top Notch' or 'Skilled'. Hell there was a big long thread in this board about Dub's vs Subs and how 90% of the voice acting in anime sucked.

Right. Have you heard of insurance? Well, insurance doesn't really help you after you're dead. And, under your way of thinking, wouldn't it be stupid to buy something you've already seen? Now, if you download maybe one or two episodes and then decide that you like it and buy the series, that's different.

Umm... haven't you read anything that's been posted here? We're getting off easy. If anything, they're undercharging us. If everyone were like you and refused to support the people that make anime and the people that sub, dub, and licence it, there would be far less anime. But if you feel it's necessary to steal to get through life, go ahead and do it, but last time I checked it was still illegal.

And to address the voice actors thing. It doesn't matter if they're skilled or not, they still cost money because they're still voice actors... however badly they do.

Granted that I'd like to get boxsets instead of individual DVD's right now..so yhea..that's a bit more expensive..but I do actually buy them. Now..to just get enough money to get that DVD RW...

Besides..another good reason to buy anime is so that you can take the DVD's to other peoples houses and infect them with the all consuming love of anime that you have!!

You can bet that my one Trigun dvd is going with me to AZ this Sunday..thank goodness we've got a DVD player and TV in the rig!!!

Dude when u have no cash well u do whatever u can to get them, or to watch them i iknow that waht i am going is not liigal but i have no choise ither download it or not watch it at all.

when i get rich i will buy every single series of anime that i have now and i will and i not stop buying them till i have no cash but for now i have no choise but to download it.

If u think that it's illigal to download it then i think that it is more illigal to put it on the net so ppl can take it, cose if it is not there well u can not take it right.

firstly insurance has nothing to do with it, i was talkin on topic and speaking only about anime, although it can also be applied to other types of media. secondly, i dont know where you'd draw the conclusion that i'd think it would be stupid to buy something i've already seen. firstly the most important thing, is that the quality and resolution of the anime you download is really cruddy, unless you go for the dvd rips that are like 200 mb for each. secondly i like buying them because the boxed sets look really nice, especially the vhs ones. thirdly dvds almost always come with extra features.

you have no idea how i think, dont try and guess or draw conclusions.

alsow i forgot to say that i hate dub i thousend times prefer to have teh subbed than to have teh modifed version with crappy voises

ha ha totally. even series that i like, like cowboy bebop, i cant stand dubbed. it drives me nuts how they foul everything up. there are only two dubbed series' that i think are done well. trigun and dbz. unfortunately its difficult to get a dubbed version of dbz without having the show edited and rewritten.

so true but i never download sommthing that has been dubbed cose it's just worng alsow i think that the original voise of teh ctors are just the best. Personaly it doesn't bug me that i have to read teh subbtitles, and when i hear japanice it helps learning 2.
I can tell u it's damn hard so subbed helps me out with the prononsiation(worng spelling)
