Ok...long story short:
I was talking with a friend of mine when we suddenly got an idea that the anime Gunbuster could work with some parts of the Top Gun soundtrack (either the Top Gun anthem, Danger Zone, or Mighty Wings in particular)
There's nothing listed on the site about it, but I've got a gut feeling that it may have been done before...

My personal opinion: unless you plan to play it for laughs, please, I beg of you: don't use "Danger Zone!" It's been overused as it is, for everything from Robotech to Area 88 to even Star Trek: The Next Generation.

I've got a very, very low tolerance for that song, ever since I--no, I actively hate that song!

Danger Zone is one of the most overused songs in the AMV world. The Top Gun anthem has been used a lot but nowhere near as much. Sad thing is that almost all Top Gun related videos are all athe same, random action involving jets or the like therof.
