  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Firstly, I was making the elitist comment about You-Tube. I actually respect You-Tube and forcing me to call it boochsack is just plain dumb. Anyway, moving from that, like I said, I was working with what I had. While I own some DVD sets of some of the animes I used, I don't have them with me. I'm not going to go spend several hundred dollars buying all the box sets to every anime I used. Not for my first AMV. So I used You-Tube. Sorry if you've got a problem with it.

Secondly, I don't even see how this is COMPARABLE to Animassacre. I went and watched it, and quite frankly, they're nothing alike.

Mine is an AMV. It is an Anime-Music-Video. Animassacre is a short animated story. While both AMVs feature Light killing other anime caracters, they're nothing alike.

Also, I wanted to use the characters' actual deaths. Not people falling over with a bag of donuts. (Though, yes, I did use a few silly/non-actual-death scenes.)

Furthermore, suppose someone speaks Japanese fluently. Watching Animassacre is going to seriously mess them up listening to Japanese and reading English. Then, switching to balloon text? While Animassacre uses some interesting effects and whatnot, I don't feel like the two are even comparable.

If you don't like my video, that is perfectly fine. But saying, "You obviously used Limewire. Don't do that," or "Yeah, subtitles are bad," makes you sound like an elitist. I don't know where you're from, but where I'm from people treat others with respect when they talk to them. Don't assume things about people, and "suggest" what might be good as opposed to saying, "Look. Don't do that."

Like I've said. Some people can't afford DVD box sets, DVD Rippers, and all this other stuff to put in their AMVs. Some people have to use what they have available.

Anyway, between You-Tube hatred and what I perceive to be elitism, I don't feel like a-m-v.org is a very friendly community. Comparing my AMV to something that isn't similar except for in one tiny way, saying that one thing that can't be compared to the other is better, and then not even constructively criticizing.. I dunno, I don't feel welcome here at all, so I don't think I'll be staying here long.

I hope not every newbie is treated like this. Otherwise I feel like a-m-v.org might be the destruction of AMVs, not You-Tube.

Whoops. Perhaps read forum rules #1 & #2 again?

Downloading now, will let you know what I think.

...

edit: That was pretty fun. But as mentioned, the video quality is dire, especially the excel saga clips, yowzer.

PS. Nerdstrudel gave you constructive criticism, and, er... you called him an elitist assh#le, that's how it reads anyway.

Alright, well, I've read some comments again and I may have taken things more harshly than they were intended. When I first read it sounded more like an attack than something to help, but I've looked again and I see you're just pointing out all the "Don't do this, rookie," mistakes.

So I offer my apology for my 'elitist' comment. I hope you can accept it.

Furthermore, thanks for the software links and whatnot. I realize that I can't make good AMVs if they are crap quality, and if I take a little more time to use DVDs/whatever the videos will be far better received.

Though I still maintain that it is dumb to basically ban the word "You-Tube" by replacing it with "boochsack."

So, I will take all your comments and try to make my next one better. Maybe I'll take the time to get the good quality clips I need and remake this one with a few tweaks.

So, thanks, and my apologies.

why should fall child quote on that?

To your video: I don't see anything wrong with it. The concept isn't overdone yet and just because there is an amv which looks alike, that doesn't have to mean that you stole the idea. I mean there are a million linkin park amv's and people still keep doing them

There is a reason why we call You-tube youtube. If you are here long enough you will eventually notice that the majority of youtubers who come here every week are annoying as &%$k!! If you don't want to buy the dvd's you can still look around in the internet and search for raws or high quality sub amv, in which you should crop out the subs that are liked to be seen around here and before you start working with your footage try to convert your source into a lossless codec, but well you can read that up in the guides ;)

All in all not bad for the first one! Keep it up... 3/5
