Yes, you can submit two (or more) videos depending on which Exhibition you want to enter. Keep updated to A-KON's Video Events page to see the latest information on how to enter. The site should be updated within the coming months and as soon as I get in touch with Chris on the new changes for this year, I will be happy to answer any more questions.

thank you very much that helps me alot i'm wondering to enter the expert Exhibition do have a job making amv's or do you have to have been making amv's for a certain amount of time or is it just toughter to get in?

Also i was wondering if you could please watch my final fantasy 7 video at the link below and tell if you think i have a chance at winning.

P.S. i know the song/video combo is very over used and got tired of seeing alot of bad amv's with this song/video combo.

Well, the rules might change, but for last year we stipulated that to enter the Experts Exhibition, you need to have won an award at another AMV Contest like at Otakon, ACen, AWA, AnimExpo, etc. or be a professional video editor. You could also enter up to two videos.

However, regardless of the contest you enter, all entries go through a rigid pre-judging screening, so no guarantee of actual showing unless your work is really of high "quality" which is what we are striving for every year.

Also, Full-Motion Video (i.e. video game footage), live-action, and mixed-media entries are lumped into a different category altogether to keep them seperate from traditional "anime" videos. Keep an eye on the website to see how we handle these special case submissions.

As for your video, you are welcomed to enter it. We usually don't get "that" many FMV entries, though it varies from year to year. How well it does depends on the other entries. You still have time, so maybe try to make that Howl Moving Castle video - one of last year's winners used that anime, too.

~ Good Luck!

I think for proof, we asked that you send us a copy of a video you worked on or a demo reel.

You can enter either Fan or Expert exhibition (if you qualify) and one other contest. Think of it as novices and veterans. You can enter one or the other, not both.

Furthermore, the maximum number of videos you can enter would be two. Either both in Experts or one in Experts/Fan and one in another category.

I'm going by memory here, so please check http://vse.a-kon.com/ for details once the site gets updated. Looks like it was pushed back until Valentine's Day.

well like i said on my first post "if i have any more questions i'll post back on this topic"

Rubyeye,

Can you clarify what is meant by "professional" editor?

I have worked on broadcast television segments, and produced statewide campaign ads for political candidates that aired in Georgia for (rather sizable) pay. I can produce examples of my work, privately. I went through a vocational program for Radio/Television/Film.

However, I have never won an award at any AMV contest, although I have occasionally made finalist lists.

I'm not sure that I see how the two could be used as either or conditions. Not that I'd want to dq myself, I most certainly don't, I'd love to be included, but I'm curious for the argument on why my professional experience, wide as it is, puts me in the same category as someone who has taken awards at other conventions.

A "professional" would be anyone who has worked (or works) as a video editor for pay on projects ranging from video/film, trailers, commercials, music videos or streaming internet vids, just to name a few. They can be free-lancers or part of a production studio.

You don't need to have ever done an anime music video, but at least show that you have the experience and knowledge of video editing and/or motion graphics.

Many veteran AMV editors are not "professionals" but have certainly shown that they are well educated in basic video editing and motion graphics design.

I'm certain you would qualify for entry into the Experts Exhibition - just show us what you got.
