Ive also noticed there's a lot of music genres and artists people just dont use for AMVs. For example, most music before the 90''s just isnt used at all. Im a big fan of 20's and 30's jazz and I rarely see it on here.

Wow a Jazz AMV? That seems really hard to pull off. Do you mean like "Old South" type Jazz or more of the BB King type stuff?

And what I listened to as a kid was stuff like Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Tom Petty, The Eagles, Eric Clapton, The Who, Simon & Garfunkel, Pink Floyd, Jimmi Hendrix, Rolling Stones, all that stuff. My parents were really big into that stuff, and they passed it on to me.
x2... :shock:It is true that our parents are a big influence, my father eg influncio me a lot with classical music! They can call me old, but I love classical music, especially Mozart, although I have not seen any AMV Mozard with music!
wheras my parents didn't listen to classical music, my Dad listened to Dr. Bizarro and shit. I get my screwed up personality from my Dad (mom listened to Karin Carpenter and '70s hippy shit, not even going there...), I'm like thanks Dad, you just ruined my life.

I got exposed to a lot of classical because of my parents and TV gave me a lot of 80s rock and pop. My sister was a teeny bopper which disgusted me so as far as 90s music I did my damndest to stay away from the majority of it.

Heh, my taste in music was definitely influenced by my parents, or rather my mother. She was an aerobics instructor in the 80's (nice visualize I'm sure is popping to mind, she didn't wear leg warmers, though, just a fuzzy headband) and always was a big music lover, so I was consequently subjected to tons of upbeat 80's music. This is one of the defining memories of my childhood, having to listen to the same albums over and over and over again while she choreographed her aerobics classes and being lectured about running around too much because it might scratch the record (kudos to anyone who knows what the hell I'm talking about).

Not that it's a bad thing, those are some of my favorite memories. Consequently, a lot of those songs have a lot of meaning to me and it's very easy to apply them to AMV concepts, whereas songs from the current decade are just kind of empty - except for a few I wish I'd never heard, they have no emotional strings attached (I know, I'm getting old).

I was also heavily influenced by my mother's love for folk music, so I'm a huge fan of Judy Collins, Peter, Paul & Mary, Pete Seeger, etc. Haven't attempted an AMV with them yet, though, I'm having too much fun screwing around with Advent Children and Top 40 hits from the 80's at the moment.
