Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
- Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
- Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
- When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
- Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Watching your editing is as painful to me as the time I tried raping a cat and found out he was not declawed. Happy? You got your announcement thread bumped you attention whore.IRC wrote:<KioAtWork> Oh, partcipants, I do have a bit ofa favor to ask. Could you drop a line or two into the annoucenment thread? godix wrote:So I check out how the VCAs are doing and see I made the final group for Most Helpful. Of course I start laughing my ass off. I'm not talking about a mild chuckle here, I'm talking a long loud laugh that lasts for a good solid minute or two and leaves me gasping for breath and seeing red spots before my eyes. I also, as it happens, laughed so hard I pissed myself. So I get up and go to the bathroom to clean myself off. I swear I didn't know my cat was in the bathroom at the time, not till I stepped on his tail at least. So the cat goes insane and starts running around the bathroom yowling in pain and this sets me off laughing again. Of all the times to see what I was up to my wife choose this one. She opened the door and saw me with my pants around my ankles and wet stuff dripping off my dick while I'm laughing like a maniac and the cat is running around screaming it's head off in pain.
Oh, and uh, I really dislike the song. I do. I really do. But the editing for it was good, if subtle to the point that I had to actively pay attention to it. Well worth checking out if you enjoy sentimental type videos.

jeez, triple bump? Glad to do it.
I don't particularly like the source material in and of itself, so turning THAT into an AMV that I am quite impressed by is definitely an accomplishment.
This came about through a combination of your editing style (my personal favorite) and your failure to put me to sleep (Voices AMVs usually do this to me, no matter how well they're done). Sooo...nice job!

Thanks!surfsama wrote:Glad I DL'd this one. Nice work editing the vid scenes to the music.

Yeah, transition, and I know. Both pro and 6.0 flickered it. If you really listen closely, it flickers the audio too at the same instant. Never figured out how to correct it.Meteor Dragon wrote:Good stuff kio. There was a flicker in your transition or overlay at the very beginning. Nice sync. Liked the vid overall.
Despite the fact I do have a really distinctive, vintage style, it still evolves. If you look at my earlier works, Countdown accomplishes a lot more with less cuts than my other videos. For a video like this, it was necessary for the slower parts of the song, as well as the flow of the original source material. I needed to have the video ebb and flow, and that meant becoming creative in limiting external sync, and emphasizing the natural rythm of the source.Otohiko wrote:
Not to make it seem like I'm ONLY paying attention to that in the whole video, but the internal sync was very nice and surprisingly consistent - which was great since it showed that those internal bits weren't just random fluff thrown in for convenience, but rather nicely planned.
It flowed well, especially as the song picked up. Early on there were some bits that I thought could be tightened up editing-wise, but as I say - it picked up rather nicely. And the rather limited source didn't hurt it at all as far as scene choices either.
I must make this clear, since there is confusion about this: I slowed down only ONE section in the entire video to 50%. "Hold tight" where she's looking around desperately for her phone to hold. No other section was time altered. The source is just that naturally slow.
Thanks Jeeks!GloryQuestor wrote:I knew this would be great after seeing the betas, and I was right. Great vid. 5/5

Thanks, Pas. And yeah, I was really, really hoping that I could show my emotional understanding of the progression of the movie through its own pace, and that definitely meant, as I said above, making sure the internal sync was primary.Pas1990 wrote:wow... that was awesome. I think it was the pace and internal sync, but this had me really absorbed right til the end.
Two thumbs up from me d('-'d) and a 5/5
Quite. Just be glad it's only catraeping taimu every six months to a year.godix wrote:Watching your editing is as painful to me as the time I tried raping a cat and found out he was not declawed. Happy? You got your announcement thread bumped you attention whore.
I'm sorry. I love Natalie Imbruglia. I have so many ideas for her songs, and she has such a wonderful quality in her voice. In this case, especially, I felt this song simply was Hoshi no Koe. Period. My AMV muse, inspiration, whatever you want to call it, demanded that I do it.Orwell wrote:Oh, and uh, I really dislike the song. I do. I really do. If the subtlety of the pace and sync made you pay attention: good. That's actually a huge compliment. There are plenty of videos I "like" that I find it easy to turn away from because they're easily predictable. Godix might be right that my scene choices are somewhat predictable; the source is so small, but my editing choices of cuts, pace, and sync should have been unique.
I've been pleasantly surprised by the reaction. Since I make videos (godix and I have spoken about this at length) primarily to satiate some internal need to create visions in my head, feedback has never been as important. I won't lie. It's important. And it can be disheartening when you spend months working on a project you are very emotionally invested in and people either do not like it, or worse, miss the point entirely. I am always worried that my style doesn't translate well to the new, attention deficit disordered org. Often times it doesn't.DriftRoot wrote:jeez, triple bump? Glad to do it.

So the fact that you knew the source bored you ahead of time, and videos made from it usually put you to sleep, means that, hopefully, my emotional context in creating Countdown came through. I'd still be proud of it if it was panned, but hearing both what was said in -review as well is in this thread, really seems like a vindication. Even for the "so-so" people, some of the context made it through.
Thanks, so am I!aesling wrote:Looking good Kio, I'm glad you finally got a decent encode.
I saved yours for last, Akwar, because of your accurate description of what I wanted. I like to think that my style in general, what I strive to present my videos as, is "simple yet elegant." I'm not an effects-whore. I'm not experimental. I'm simple, but simplicity alone is not enough. I'm a minimalist, and I want to make sure I show that minimalism is a valid form in editing, that indeed, done right, it is elegant and beautiful. Without question, I believe I achieved that full with Countdown. It is decidedly one of my best works, if not my best.IcyCloud wrote:Nice one, Kio. I usually don't get too enthused about HnK vids, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was simple yet elegant. Easily one of your best works yet.

Good stuff though

None the less this video gave me smexy bumps. I'll go to the doctor and ask for some special shampoo.
4.7/5
I'm usually the action type of person, and I rented this on my netflix and didn't seem all that interesting to me. But I put my Biased judgement towards the anime aside when I watched it in advance.

I'll be quite honest. Almost all VOADS videos bore me to tears. I didn't much care for the movie either.
Yet..
Something about this AMV kind of put it all together for me. It was very nicely edited, had a great encode, and wasn't "just another VOADS" video for me. I think some of the clips might have dragged on a bit here and there, but for the most part it was great. *meh adds to mah Ipod*
