AUDIO seeks video

Post by Eville » Fri Jan 11, 2008 1:11 pm

wow,
a silly and vague subject line.
i apologize.
okay,
here is my dilemma--

i'm an independent musician that desperately needs a "music video" for one of my songs and after hours and hours of downloading random codecs for WMM, premiere, and MAGIX, i've decided to put my fate into someone else's hands, because my computer is littered with music making software, so my computer R U N S L I KE THI S S and making my own video just seems completely out of the question at this point due to time constraints/other label deadlines. ... BUT, this is where YOU can help me :-)

ok, so i really would prefer an experienced AMV maker, because hey, we all want our work to look really nice :-)
and i would really like the video to be composed of footage from The E.O.E.
you can retain full rights blah blah blah
and yeah.
if anyone is interested in this endeavor,
PLEASE contact me soon at spreadyourspeakers@gmail.com
to listen to the song for an idea....
myspace.com/grimsounds (vampire prom is the song i'd like the video to be done with. at 30 seconds there is an audio clip from one of the first evangelion episodes and at around 1:30, the song gets pretty hectic...) anyhow... pleaseeeeeee help me someone? collaborative efforts help will help us both!!
i KNOW someone even has already complied footage that they could just trim?
pleaseeee help?

cheers!!
love to all.
thank you.
^-^

If you're using the video to promote yourself, you are (in essence) profiting from the series you're using to make the video. The creators of the anime would have every right to sue your ass - so you'd need to get into some licensing agreement with them over it.

Also... Most good editors don't do "commissions."

firstly,
thank you for your hasty and condescending response.

do you honestly think that my inquiry's final product would be created for generating profit on my behalf? well, if you would have asked or taken a gander at my music page, you would note that I DO NOT SELL MY MUSIC, so "self promotion" doesn't exactly exist in my realm. being said, the legality behind winning prizes (that are ACTUALLY WORTH MONEY) say at anime conventions or with contests, is far more "illegal" (because someone pays taxes on them SOMEWHERE) than me beckoning someone to edit video to put behind a NOT-FOR-PROFIT song for the sake of BETTER ART. rationality tells you to agree, correct?

being said,

if anyone would like to collaborate with me on the aforementioned,

please,

i would love to see this project work.

truthfully I don't think Bashar was being condescending, he was expressing a legit concern. We have had several "myspace bands" recently coming here and asking the same exact request, some even offering CASH prizes :/ Sometimes they promise us to "get on MTV" or to "put us on the DVD" and whatnot.

And a lot of the time some labels (usually small ones) get us confused for professional video creators (thats not to say some of us aren't, but when it comes to the realm of the sources allowed here, we all know that amv is a hobby)

i'm not like them :) . i've been going to CONS since 1998 (animazement, neko, and otakon decently religiously) but i've never been involved in AMV production for the sole reason that...
BACK THEN
you had to have a dual deck VCR, which was like, a few hundred dollars and i did not have that sort of money as a pre-teen,
and now,
the problem lies in what i previously stated--
not enough RAM.
minimal finances impede me from correcting this problem at this point. :-\

i was unaware that this has been going on. i do apologize for being forthright and blunt Bashar :-\

i just REALLY wanted to see a few scenes from End of Evangelion synced with one of two of my songs. i think it would look beautiful. that is all.

Thank you JaddziaDax. You are correct - I was addressing those concerns exactly.

To the OP - Pointing out what you believe to be hypocrisy doesn't make you correct. Also - most prizes given out at cons (most are non-profits) are donated by the anime industry.

We also have a sub-forum specifically for requests. It's called "AMV Suggestions."

right.
so you agree that you were initially incorrect, correct?
this isn't a semantics battle,
and my aim wasn't "pointing out hypocrisy",
it was just to show you that your initial claim (about myself) was incorrect.

in summation,
i'm sure that gainax
would support both endeavors.

more than valve would support your head on one of their models/skins (your avatar),
which could be confused for libel,
if they cared?

Found the song pretty boring and repetitive for the most part. Don't think it would make a good amv either.
But hay - who needs editors nowadays?
