Beta Tester?

Hi Everyone. Im new and this is going to sound dumb, but, What is the basic purpose of a Beta Tester? Ive seen it on alot of AMV'discriptions. and i was just wondering what there job is.

To tell you what's wrong with your video, and if they know, what could be done to improve it.

To tell you what to keep,change,add in your AMV. So you don't upload it here with a mistake..that one of your beta testers could have pointed out. Like I did on one of my past AMV's that happends to be uploaded here,theirs a subtitle near the end,and I didn't relize it until it was uploaded. Now I regret not having (a) beta tester(s) for my AMV. And other common mistakes that might not even be relized until someone picks it out. Theirs alot of reason though.

Thank you for your help! i have one small question though does a Beta Tester. 'Test' the vid only when its done. or piece by piece? or does it just depend?

whatever. I've done beta testing before where they show me something almost every 10 seconds they get done XD

Whichever you want. It's not a formal position or anything. Usually your beta tester will just be a friend or acquaintance whom you show an unreleased project in order to get feedback and make revisions.

i personally prefer to watch a vid for beta testing if its mostly done, but thats a personal decision... if someone sends me a 10 second clip it will be either a "that was cool" or "okay" reaction, I don't like to nitpick until I know that the editor has already worked out most of the bugs..

on the flip side I don't really like too much nitpicking until I've worked out most of the bugs (as I like to get to them first) however I'm one of those jerks that makes 10 second clips and spams my friends with them...
