Tips and Tricks on Transparencies...

Post by OmniStrata » Sun Nov 03, 2002 8:24 pm

This is Premiere 6.0 using DVD Footage... ^_^

Ok, I've got a "diamond" transparency image I want to use...

[white diamond on black background]

and when I apply it to a small image [30%zoomed] I want it in the lower left corner and such...

What I get is a "diamond" opening on a black background and a tiny portion of my "mini-pic" in the lower left part of the diamond showing only 50%...

Is there a way to apply image transparencies to JUST the image and not the entire darn screen?

Or do I have to create small diamonds on each corner of the screen (which defeats the purpose of motion all together...)
:(

What I meant was the "footage" and not the screen.....

Place the diamond in the track above your clip.

Add a transform effect, set the height and width as small as you need, then move the position down to the lower corner.

On your clip in the track below, goto Transperancy properties and set Key type: to "Track Matte".

See if it works.

it doesn't work...
I still get a "big diamond hole" with a little piece of my footage sticking in in the corner of the diamond

Man I don't think Premiere was ever supposed to do that kind of stuff. This is what you need AE for.

Whoa, you can even spin/stretch both the track matted image AND the footage beneath! Resulting in... Spinning Crystals... ^_^

[notes this for MAD editing...]
