US Boa release
I just got the BOA CD (Band that performs the opening to Serial Experiments Lain) and I was feeling pretty cool, but the *entire* disc was in english.
Then I talked to a friend from Japan and she said all the BOA releases in Japan are in japanese. Do they sing their songs in both languages? Or do they have different songs in Japan? Anybody have more info on this?

Ah, but are the rest of the songs as good as the song from Lain?
And if she/they (don't know if Boa is her name, or the name of the group) weren't featured at the beginning of each episode (all 13 of them[/b]!), would you be at all interested in them?
Not calling anyone on their taste or anything. I love that song, but that's all I know from Boa. Can they make it work over an entire album?

Re: US Boa release
As far as I know, the band BOA that performed the Duvet song does all of their songs in english. Because they are from England. They just happen to have a recording contract with Sony Japan. But since the advent of Serial Experiments Lain in the US, they managed to get a North American contract too. Or at least, Sony Music decided to release their album here domestically.valentine wrote:I just got the BOA CD (Band that performs the opening to Serial Experiments Lain) and I was feeling pretty cool, but the *entire* disc was in english.

There is a popular female performer named BoA however who does j-pop stuff I think (I've never heard any of her stuff though).

Yeah if you look on Kazaa you can see Kago Ai and one of her other "group members" from Morning Musume doing a mini-interview with BoA(jpop) in a elevator. You can't understand what the fuck they are saying(japan speak, no subs), but Kago is so kawaii in the "Elevator lady" suit. Gargh. However BoA's music is crap, suck suck suck, imagine whiny R&B black music(I guess there are some whiny white R&B'ers also). Just imagine it and you got BoA(JR&B). :p

Actually, it was Duvet that got me to like Boa, yes, but I started downloading other Boa songs and I love their sound.starwire wrote:And if she/they (don't know if Boa is her name, or the name of the group) weren't featured at the beginning of each episode (all 13 of them[/b]!), would you be at all interested in them?

It's they, and the lead singer's name is Jasmine. They performed at Otakon 2 years ago, and it was a kickass concert. I really enjoy the one CD of theirs that I have, Twilight. Though almost all of their song names are a single word. It's quite weird.starwire wrote:And if she/they (don't know if Boa is her name, or the name of the group) weren't featured at the beginning of each episode (all 13 of them[/b]!), would you be at all interested in them?

Yeah, Lain is what started me looking for them, but the rest of their music is cool too.
Well that explains it. No wonder neither of us could figure out what the hell the other was talking about.
