Post by GH » Mon Dec 17, 2007 12:02 am

Ugghhh,I need my .mp4 file to H.264,and my AMVapp didnt include Zarx264gui,well..I'm pritty bad at this technical stuff actually..so can someone please tell me how to do this. And also tell me any programs I'm going to need to go along with the process...if any is needed at all in this case.I read this guide, but it says when you go to your AMVapp settings it should have H264 tools, but mine dosent...ehh,it might just be something I'm going wrong O:

and usually, things encoded with H.264 are placed into the .mp4 container (.mkv is common too)

Yeah, I suppose you don't have AMVappv3 installed, which is the version that includes the H.264 tools.

To extend this, (to the OP) you are sure that the file isn't already encoded in H.264, right (granted, using MPEG-4 ASP properly in MP4 is rather rare, but it does happen sometimes)? Or is this necessary for hardware compatibility with a device?
