but at the same time here at the org, if the original editor allows "offender" to leave up the frankenvid then the mods won't delete it (which I've seen several times).

my personal policy on frankenvids is to notify the original creator of the video rather than take drama into my own hands, let them deal with it as they see fit, if they want to report to the mods then so be it, it's not my vid, it's not my problem.

By traditional definition (i.e. not the linguistic power of changing definitions because people use the word incorrectly a bunch) that's not theft.

The banner has been taken down. As to how i went about things, yes i made some mistakes. my second post was full of frustration, because i did not know how to go about getting it actually done; i posted the links when someone pmed me and told me that it would be to the best to do so. Aside from the links, i do admit that the rest the rest of it is a lashing out at all the people who did write along the lines of "you should be happy it is being used"; to me, this is a backwards way of thinking. But to the rest, who actually did think about it, as well as post back salient arguments, thank you; also thank you all who tried to help and not continue with the status quo. And, to answer some questions, no i was not sent by the artist. i took it wholly on myself to do this; if no one fought back against things, then we would still be in an imperialist society. As to the mods, sorry, but i did not mean to stir up, to quote, "all this drama"; it was, when i started the thread, the only pathway i knew to get this about. And my post was not meant to accuse AMV, it was to question if by not doing anything are they giving tacit approval. Sure, the site is run by people, not machines; i did not expect rapid success in the matter.

Understandable...

HOWEVER, you should not of taken it on yourself to do this without talking to the artist first as it is his art and not yours. Unless you know them and talked about it to them personally, you don't have any idea what thier stand on it is or if they might of even given the person permission in private...

Next time that is the way it needs to be handled...

i still don't understand how its wrong to think that its a compliment...

you can think its a compliment, let it inflate your ego and ask for it to be taken down... i don't see how its "backwards thinking"

On the bright side, this motivated me to make my own banner for the first time in a long long time. It sucks but then again, it's gonna get rejected anyway so why put more effort into it?
