Anyway, with me generally the use of a certain series that I liked only provides me with some incentive to give it a shot, but I don't get overly excited about it - that depends much more on execution, whether I've enjoyed the editor's other videos, and just what others are saying about the video. Normally I tend to read a bit of the thread before downloading a video in cases where I'm not familiar with the editor's previous work (or if I am, if I'm not familiar with the source used), and that usually has more to do with it. The familiarity with the source material only allows me to more deeply enjoy a video due to those circumstances, but that really only is shaded by the quality of the execution.

If you produce a great Cowboy Bebop video, I will appreciate it.

If you produce a great Crest of the Stars, I will love you for it.

I normally like animes with serius character design like GITS, Cowboy beebop, etc.
Also all Yoshitoshi Abe's character designs like Lain, Haibane Renmei, Tehxnolyze, Niea Under 7.
Actually i think i will enjoy a lot an AMV with Futakoi Alternative, Eureka Seven, Chevalier D'eon, Shingetsutan Tsukihime, Ookiku furikabute, PlanetES, Mushishi, etc.

Sometimes i quit amv's because the song doesn't go with me, and sometimes i don't download amv with anime i don't like, only in multi anime project.
I use to like very much instrumental amv's.
My favourite type are dramatic amv's.

PD: I only see AC amv's wich contains songs that i recognize and like.

.. I like three or more series on the screen at the same time MEP 2 minute clip. The most memorable one had 4DPrincess, Tenchi Meow, Trouble Choco and a few others all inter-acting with each other like they were all Shopping at a Mall -- talking with each other, exchanging addresses and generally just being actresses on their days off. What made it soo rememberable was the song that they used when all the girls "snubbed" the guys at the Mall at the same time while walking together in a PACK.
.. the song: Billy Ocean's "Lover Boy" -- it was soo well done, you felt "cheap" for not thinking of it yourself 8-) hehe

My favorites:
  • Cardcaptor Sakura
  • Princess Tutu
  • Le Portrait de Petite Cossette
  • Air TV
  • Kanon 2006
Those are the big ones. If I could find more Ojamajo Doremi AMVs, that'd be right up at the top, too. I like AMVs that use anime with high quality animation, prefer shoujo or moe character designs, and will instantly love anything with magical girls.

Honestly, if a creator knows how to edit any anime can work well. If they dont, it could end in disaster. I only tend to watch AMVs with anime I know, because Im hoping the AMVs will serve some kindve purpose. I wont watch AMVs from animes I havent seen because I wont understand the story theyre trying to tell.

Yeah, and I wont watch eye candy AMVs

dosnt that kinda defy the purpose of them being "eye candy?"

eye candy is something that is enjoyable to watch - which is why you download vids in the first place, amirite?

if it's a series you love then of course you will have a greater attachment to it than you would to a series you don't know or dont like..

"judging amvs" is a whole other subject (I saw someone mention this) and is very different from the general like/dislike imho.
I usually won't score lower on an op for an amv that uses sources I'm not fond of.. the technical level will effect my scoring.

as for general like/dislike, it helps me to like vids easier if they are to show I already love, but at the same time it can also cause me to hate a video even more if they "screw it up".
