The french AMV events thread

Post by chambeyc » Wed Nov 28, 2007 7:33 am

Welcome in the french AMV events thread!

Since the org is international, and in order to inform about what is happening in the froggies country, I felt like a thread reporting the French AMV-related activities may have some interest here (and i would love to see russian/german/etc... threads open too).

So, starting today I would like to put there some information about current contests & events, introduce some French amvmakers not known here, and update the thread monthly or so.
(PS: Like all frenchies my English is a bit poor, so I hope it will be readable enough, sorry for that ^^”).

========================== 27th November ======================

So here we start with the latest news:

***** TGS AMV contest 2007 *****

Image

The Toulouse Game Show is, like the Japan Expo in Paris, an exposition where all the classical anime-related activities - imported video games, martial arts demo, cosplaying, etc … and an AMV contest.
This contest had no restriction on anime and music used, but your video should be somewhat linked to the following theme: the 80’s.

Below is the complete list of the participants:
- Akany - - Fana - - Jojo - - Kaiser Panda - - Kaolla - - Kenzuka - - Kyden - - LogX - - Master Of Chaos - - Neb-b - - Reznic - - Riki - - Rody - - Seb - - Shaft 2.0 - - SoH - - The 36 years old kid - - Toff - - Woy –

The event occurred last week, from 22th to 24th, and judging from the feeback of editors present there, went really well for a first edition (wide room and screen, pretty good videos, audience enjoyed it).
The results are now available and amvdefans provides direct link to all the videos here:
http://ik63044.ikexpress.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?t=5219
Congrats to all participants ;).

***** French online tournament *****

Image

The 2nd edition of the tournament, organized by Fantasy-movies, has begun!
After a first qualification (48h-long, music imposed) round where 14 of the 46 participants have already been eliminated, the table of versus match to come is now available:
Image
Versus matches are about to begin.

A lot of not-too-experimented editors that want to improve here, but we’re expected some surprise during this tournament!
You can find information on amvmakers and their videos there:
http://www.fantasy-movies.net/homenew/contest.php?id=25
(I personnaly recommand Tisnak, DarkKirua, and R_1 videos)

***** Iron Chef 15 *****

This will be a very unique IC, i tell ya!
Indeed, all the 5 editors will edit in the same room, and filmed by IAN_blade & Pioupiou!
Who are these editors? Well, try to guess with this:
Image

This is scheduled for the 22th-23th December, and the jury will be composed by:
Master of Chaos, Dark-Krystal, Shishi, AtomX, Koopiskeva

***** Birth of AMV-France, to come *****

You may know that there are currently 2 big French websites about AMV:
http://www.amvdefans.com/
http://www.fantasy-movies.net
But these 2 should soon merge into one single site. At least creators of each site wish to, and seriously discuss the matter …
No date available for the moment, the project is not yet on the move and there’s a lot to do.

=======================================================

This ends the first news of this thread, hope you liked it (don't hesitate to feedback ;) )

This seems like it would be better placed in Contests or Conventions.

What was the point of quoting your entire first post exactly?

(damn, no edit here .... )

EDIT: now that the thread has moved here, i deleted my involuntary quote.

Yep, true. But well, this first post IS essentially about contests so it's quite right to move the thread here.
I think i'll introduce one or some French editors next month, depending on the number of other news.
Autraya wrote:has the betting started?
Well, in order to bet, you'll need to find out who are those 5 editors ;).
Big hint: there is A******, T****, N******, K*******, and Y****.

===========3rd January ==========

So here are the latest news from the froggies:

***** French online tournament *****

And the fight continues! The versus matches of the first round are now all done and the some results are already available there:
http://www.fantasy-movies.net/homenew/contest.php?id=25#
Image
With Christmas and stuff, the tournament has been paused a bit, so participants have now to be patient … and yeah, I personally still waiting for the result of my own match ^^.

***** Iron Chef 15: the results! *****

Terrific music chosen by the winner of the previous edition, perfect proof of the natural sadism of the girls :p!
The participants were: Tyler, Atvaark, Nostromo, Kragdrim and …. Not Yonda. His computer preferred to burn its mother card rather than going through these intensive 24 hours of labour. So R_1 replaces him just in time for the fun.
This edition was broadcasted during all the 24 hours using a webcam, but no cameras in toilet nor shower, so no fun for stalkers :p.

And here are the results:
1/ Kragdrim with The Next Iron Chef
2/ ex aequo Tyler with Rodriguez Dreamy Sodomy
2/ ex aequo Atvaark with Made Of Sun
4/ R_1 with Bad Week-end
5/ Nostromo with Hypnostro

***** The foxhound MEP *****

Who the hell are these foxhound guys? Well, it’s a small group of French editors who have created their own studio recently, and they inaugurate it with a MEP:
Image

Though it is perfectible, it was a quite nice 1st MEP. I think we can expect some good stuff from them soon ^^.

***** This month’s creator: Reznic *****

Image
He is a creator I particularly want to introduce, since he is almost not coming on the org at all, but is IMHO the best improvement within French editors from last year.

The first videos Reznic delivered, “Lili” and “Exile” were already showing great editing skills. Though technically quite simples, they all got a really deep ambient and quite unique source combination.
Indeed, almost all his videos use material that tends to be rarely used in AMVs, either concerning audio or video sources: Renaissance, TitanAE, Studio4C OVAs… in fact I often saw these videos without knowing the actual sources ^^”…
Concerning the songs used, they are quite various, though Reznic tends to use more electronic tracks.

He then did a quite incredible technical improvement by showing a really impressive AMV for the Japan Expo contest occurring at Paris: Exo-perfection. The way sources were blended to obtain a really artistic and harmonious render was just great. Both the jury and the audience like the mood created - it finished at a quite good 11th rank. He recently obtained the 3rd place at the TGS contest too with “Butterfly’s rising”.
His terrible bad habit of doing way-too long credits is not eradicated yet though ^^”!

Sadly, most of his videos are not available here, but you can download them either on foxhound studio website:
http://foxhound.studio.free.fr/reznic.php
Or on his personal site:
http://www.myspace.com/areznica

Profile on the org: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... _id=751114

Small description of some of his works:
Exo-perfection:
Image Image Image
It reminds me a lot of a video from NetTroop russian guys. It focuses on artificial human beings, using FF and GITS Innocence films.

Pillsation:
Image Image Image
Done within 3 days, it shows us the story of a girl … on drugs. A really good flow here, and smart use of 2 very different sources.

Butterfly’s rising:
Image Image Image
Done for a contest where the theme was the 80’s, Reznic combined Roxette’s song with several animes, for very efficient result.

Thanks you, Chambeyc.
Disturbed Heaven is the first video project of our team, it's not free of imperfections, however, we are happy to have bought it to fruition .
